No. 11/10 Louisville Sweeps Cincinnati on Senior Day

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The No. 11/10 University of Louisville swimming and diving team made the most of Senior Day with a sweep of Cincinnati Saturday afternoon in the Ralph Wright Natatorium.

The men won 209.5-84.5 and the women won 210-87. UofL highlights included three wins by Guy Brooks (50 free and both relays) and Dalton Lowe's three wins (both relays and the 100 back). Newcome Leticia Ramao swept the distance events in the 1650 and the 500 freestyles. Ella Welch won the 100 free and the 200 free relay. Gabi Albiero took top honors in the 50 free and the 100 fly. Â
The Cardinals took the top two slots in the 200 medley relay led by the foursome of Abby Karl (24.47), Fernanda Celidonio (27.98), Avery Karl (23.86) and Karoline Barrett (21.74) who combined for a 1:38.05. Dueling that group down the stretch was the C-relay team of Krista Wheeler (25.59), Gabi Albiero (27.25), Ella Welch (22.82) and Rye Ulett (22.52), who finished just a .15 behind with a 1:38.20. The Louisville men took the top three spots led by the foursome of Rian Graham (21.38), Grant Gooding (23.86), Dalton Lowe (19.77) and Guy Brooks (19.33) for a 1:24.34. Filip Kosinski, Jake Eccleston, Charlie Crush and Ethan Chauliaguet turned in a 1:26.68 for second and Mateo Miceli, Rob Ehrenborg, Aiden Musso and Owen Taylor were third in 1:27.56.

In the grueling 1650 free, Leticia Romao of Louisville boarded the winning time of 16:02.94 and teammate Merve Tuncel was second in 16:43.76. Eli Shoyat of the Cardinals won the men's mile with a 15:20.89 and teammate Kayden Lancaster was third in 15.27.60.

In the 200 free, Daria Golovaty led the 1-2-3-4 charge of the Cardinals with a 1:44.30 ahead of Tristen Ulett (1:46.71), Madie Hall (1:48.67) and Lucy Mehraban 1:48.76). Gustavo Saldo won the men's 200 free for the Ville with a time of 1:34.86. Cardinal Gregg Enoch was third in 1:36.24.

Camille Murray won the 100 backstroke with a 43.20. Krista Wheeler was second (55.00) and Ally Boynton was fifth in 56.60. Dalton Lowe won the men's race with a time of 46.36, beating runnerup Drew Collins (47.59) and Charlie Crush (47.76).

Cincinnati's Joleigh Crye won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.52, UofL's Caroline Larsen was second (1:00.57) and Fernanda Celidonio was third (1:01.69). Louisville freshman Jake Eccleston won the men's race with a 53.70 holding off a hard-charging Luke Shourds (53.97).

In the 200 breaststroke, Summer Cardwell (1:57.56) was into the wall first, beating out teammate Amelia Bodenstab's 1:59.76. In the men's race, Thomas Powers-Hammond led a 1-2-3-4 finish by the Cardinals with his time of 1:43.40. Aidan Paro followed with a 1:43.57, Mateo Miceli's 1:47.04 and Denis Loktev's 1:47.36.

Gabi Albiero led the Cards' 50 free sprinters with the winning time of 22.11 followed by Ella Welch (22.39), Abby Karl (22.45) and Avery Karl (22.91). The UofL men took the top four spots in the men's race, led by Guy Brooks' winning time of 19.80. Rian Graham was in hot pursuit, touching in 19.99 and Ethan Chauliaguet (20.10) and Rob Ehrenborg (20.56) completed the sweep.

Ella Welch won the 100 free with a 48.95 for the Cardinals, just ahead of Daria Golovaty's 49.60 and Summer Cardwell's 49.96. Louisville's Matias Santiso won the men's 100 free with a time of 43.03, Dalton Lowe took second in 44.23, Denis Loktev (44.28) was third and Owen Taylor was fourth (45.15).

UC's Payton Wooding won the women's 200 back with a time of 1:59.92. Ally Boynton was second (2:00.76) for the Cardinals. Filip Kosinski picked up the men's win with a 1:40.96. Jackson Millard was third, checking in at 1:43.88.

Mia Cheatwood won the 200 breaststroke, pulling away from the field with a time of 2:09.12 for Louisville. Teammate Camden Doane was second with a 2:15.92. Jake Eccleston won his second event of the day, putting up the winning time of 1:55.78. Grant Gooding scored third place points with a 2:00.43.

In the 100 fly, Gabi Albiero powered to the wall with a winning time of 52.03. Karoline Barrett put up a 52.58 and Camille Murray went (54.59) in exhibition. On the men's side, Thomas Powers-Hammond had the fastest time with a 47.10.

Fernanda Celidonio won the 200 IM with a 1:57.83 with teammate Rye Ulett (1:59.73) and Camden Doane posting a 2:10.32 in exhibition. Jackson Millard ran away with the men's 200 IM, boarding a 1:44.77.

The A- and C-relays from the Ville tied in the 200 free relay. The C-relay team of Karoline Barrett (22.78), Julia Dennis (21.70), Ella Welch (21.74) and Mia Cheatwood (22.96) put up a 1:29.18. Touching at the same time was the A-relay team of Caroline Larsen (22.77), Daria Golovaty (21.81), Avery Karl (22.26) and Amelia Bodenstab (22.3). On the men's side, the A-relay team of Guy Brooks (20.00), Dalton Lowe (19.24), Ethan Chauliaguet (19.92) and Rian Graham (19.03) went 1:18.19 for the win.

Diving in exhibition, Rayce Winn posted a 359.48 on the 1-meter to rank third all-time before setting a school record with a 388.43 on the platform. Mack Molloy now ranks No. 6 all-tim after posting a 347.85 on the 1-meter board and Ray Preas ranks No. 5 on the career lit with a 339.75 on the platform. Samm Helmboldt is fifth all-time with a 309.75 on the 1-meter and made a Zone cut with a 250.80 on the platform. Audree Brazeau-Howes made her Zone Cuts with a 276.75 on the 1-meter and a mark of 272.78 (4th all time) and Lindsay Gizzi (243.60 on platform) and Grace Leonard (273.60 on 1-meter) also made Zones.
