No. 5/3 Cards Wrap Up Competition at Ohio State Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio. – The No. 5/3 University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving teams each post a top three finish after the final day of action at the Ohio State Invitational at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The Cardinal men took second, while the UofL women placed third.
The men's 1984.5 points trailed only No. 3 Indiana's winning score of 2766. No. 19 Ohio State placed third with 1745 points, followed by Purdue (1346), Yale (1215.5), Penn State (1064), No. 23 Kentucky (989), Cincinnati (689), No. 24 Northwestern (202), No. 20 Wisconsin (56), and Pitt (19). The women's 1934 points stood behind both No. 14 Ohio State's winning 2257 points, and No. 10 Indiana's 2010.5 points. Kentucky (1262), RV Purdue (1262), UCLA (1041), Cincinnati (832), Penn State (745.5), Yale (710), RV Northwestern (152), RV Pitt (149), and No. 17 Wisconsin (32) rounded out the women's standings.
Race-by-Race Recap
Three Cardinals competed in the women's 200 IM A-final, highlighted by Kim Herkle placing third with a time of 1:57.98. Junior Summer Cardwell finished fifth (1:58.95), while senior Mia Cheatwood came in sixth (1:59.03). On the men's side, senior Jackson Millard led UofL in the 200 IM A-final, claiming fourth with a time of 1:44.08. Sophomore Gregg Enoch capped it off for the Cards in eighth place (1:45.06).
In the women's 100 free A-final, senior sprinter Julia Dennis led the way for the Cardinals, posting a second-place time of 47.38. Sophomore sprinter Caroline Larsen wasn't far behind, earning third place (47.47). Freshman Julie Mishler claimed fourth (47.61) and sophomore Daria Golovaty took eighth (48.34), while senior sprinter Ella Welch rounded it out with ninth place (48.51). Senior Guy Brooks came out on top for the UofL men, winning the men's 100 free A-final with a time of 41.87. Freshman sprinter Nikita Sheremet captured second place, posting a 42.04.
Cardwell was the lone Cardinal in the women's 200 fly A-final, finishing ninth with a time of 2:00.22. Four Louisville men represented the 200 fly A-final, with Enoch notching second place with a time of 1:43.48. Tommy Bried placed third (1:43.64), while junior Aidan Paro earned fourth place (1:43.79). Sophomore Thomas Powers-Hammond claimed sixth place, posting a 1:44.31.
Freshman Xeniya Ignatova led the UofL women in the 200 back A-final, finishing fourth place with a time of 1:53.46, while sophomore Camille Murray placed ninth (1:56.26). Sophomore Filip Kosinski took second place in the men's 200 back A-final, posting a 1:40.65. Millard finished strong, securing ninth place (1:42.80).
In the women's 400 free relay, the Louisville B-squad of Ignatova (49.69), Golovaty (48.64), Cardwell (49.09), and Abby Karl (49.36) took sixth place with a time of 3:16.78. For the Cardinal men, the A-team of Sheremet (42.13), Brooks (41.65), Matias Santiso (42.35), and Rian Graham (42.27) finished second place, posting a 2:48.40. The B-squad of Aiden Musso (43.45), Bryan Lombardi (43.61), Charlie Crush (42.78), and Ryan Henderson (43.33) claimed eighth place with a time of 2:53.17.
On the diving side, Sophomore Ray Preas secured seventh place in the men's platform diving finals with a score of 327.80, while sophomore Mack Molloy placed 28th (238.25). For the Cardinal women, sophomore Audree Brazeau-Howes finished 29th in the women's 1-meter diving finals with a score of 229.25.
