Cards Place Eighth at NCAA Championships

UofL earned three First Team All-American honors on the final day of action
ATLANTA – The No. 8-ranked University of Louisville women's swimming and diving team earned three podium visits as the Cards finished in eighth place as a team to close competition at the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
UofL's 201.5 points trailed Virginia's 589 as the Cavaliers won their sixth national title in as many years. Stanford (380.5) was runner-up, followed by Texas (376.5), California (303), Tennessee (301.5), Michigan (296), and Indiana (258).
The night started with the 200 IM final, where Anastasia Gorbenko earned her third individual First Team All-American honor of the meet, clocking a fourth-place time of 1:52.98. Stanford's nine-time All-American Lucy Bell won the event at 1:52.09. California's duo of Teagan O'Dell (1:52.76) and Mia West (1:52.96) came in third and fourth.
In the 100 free, Julia Dennis claimed First Team All-American honors in the event for the second straight year, posting a 47.02. Friday night's 50 free champion, Stanford's Torri Huske, completed the sprint sweep after taking first at a pool-record time of 45.17.
To close the championships, the 400 free relay squad of Caroline Larsen (47.36 split), Dennis (46.54 split), Julie Mishler (47.40 split), and Gorbenko (46.98) secured First Team All-American honors with a seventh-place time of 3:08.28. Virginia won the event at a NCAA-record time of 3:05.26.
