Both Cardinal Squads Are Fourth at ACC Championships

Gorbenko wins silver, 400 Medley Relay wins bronze
ATLANTA --Â With one day of racing remaining, the University of Louisville men's and women's team are both in fourth after Friday finals at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech.Â

Virginia leads the women's field with 1028.5 points, followed by California (860.5) and Stanford (798). Louisville has scored 653 points followed by NC State (591.5), Pitt (450), North Carolina (387.5), Duke (328.5), Notre Dame (310), Florida State (310), Miami (296), Virginia Tech (274.5), Georgia Tech (238), SMU (203) and Boston College (74).

The men's field is bunched closer with Cal taking the lead with 827 followed by Stanford (799), NC State (665). Louisville (663) is fourth followed by Virginia Tech (541.5), FSU (499.5), UNC (446.5), Virginia (433.5), Notre Dame (397), SMU (326), Pitt (324), Georgia Tech (293), Miami (162), Duke (109) and Boston College (86).Â

In the first event of the evening, Summer Cardwell was into the wall fourth in the C-final of the 200 butterfly, posting a time of 1:57.60. The Crystal Beach, Fla. native shaved 1.68 off her prelim time in the finals. California's Mia West went 1:51.52 for the gold, dropping 1.37 off her prelim time.Â

For the men's 200 fly, Tommy Bried touched second with a time of 1:42.04 in the consolation final. Gregg Enoch boarded a time of 1:42.88 and Aidan Paro checked in at 1:44.23 to add to UofL's point total. In the C-final, Thomas Powers-Hammond turned in a time of 1:44.07 to add additional team points.  The event was won by FSU's Logan Robinson's 1:38.78, with the sophomore dropping 2.20 seconds off his preliminary time.Â

In the 100 backstroke, Camille Murray, who set a school record in prelims, touched eighth, going 51.23, resetting her own record by .12.  In the consolation final, Julie Mishler touched fourth with a time of 51.61. Virginia's Claire Curzan set a pool record in her gold medal time of 48.38.

In the men's 100 back, Filip Kosinski was into the wall fifth with a time of 45.88 in the consolation final.  Rian Graham was seventh with a 46.07. Charlie Crush swam in the C-final and put up a time of 46.39 to score for the Cards. Cal's Evan Petty swam a 44.21 to win the gold for the Bears.Â

In one of the closest finishes of the night, NC State's Eneli Jefimova surged to gold with a time of 56.77 just edging Louisville's Anastasia Gorbenko, who threw down a school record 57.03, dropping .36 from her record-setting prelim and winning silver.  Stanford's Lucy Bell, last year's champion was third in 57.74.  Cardinal Mia Cheatwood was eighth with a time of 58.94.Â

In the men's 100 breast, Jake Eccleston was fourth in the consolation final, turning in a 52.18. UofL freshman Finnley Conklin was the first into the wall in the C-final with a time of 52.16. The event was won by Cal's Yamato Okadome's 50.32.Â

In the 400 medley relay, the Louisville squad set a school record and won bronze with a time of 3:25.16 set by Camille Murray (51.40), Anastasia Gorbenko (56.54), Ella Welch (51.07) and Julia Dennis (46.15). Virginia ran away with the gold, throwing down a 3:20.42 for the win.Â

The men's 400 medley relay touched seventh overall in the timed final. The Cardinals went 3:03.04 put up by Rian Graham (46.11) on the backstroke, Jake Eccleston (51.44) on the breaststroke, Aiden Musso (44.26) on the fly and a freestyle anchor by Guy Brooks (41.23). Â
