Bio
Junior: Karoline Barrett had a strong showing at the 2025 ACC Championships in Greensboro, NC. She qualified for the championships and scored 43 points for the University of Louisville. In individual events, Barrett won the C-final of the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.15 seconds. She also placed second in the B-finals of both the 100 butterfly (51.97) and the 100 freestyle (48.70). In relay events, Barrett contributed to the Cardinals' fourth-place finish in the 200 medley relay, where they posted a time of 1:35.37. At the NCAA Championships in Federal Way, Washington, Barrett continued her success. She earned second-team All-American honors as part of the 11th-place 200 medley relay team that finished in 1:35.45. Individually, she recorded times of 22.38 in the 50 freestyle, 52.66 in the 100 butterfly, and 49.27 in the 100 freestyle. During the dual meet season from November 2024 to April 2025, Barrett consistently achieved top-five finishes. Against Xavier, she was part of the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. In the meet against Auburn, Barrett won the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.71 and again contributed to victories in the 400 freestyle and 200 medley relays. At the meet against Notre Dame, she placed second in the 50 freestyle (23.29) and third in the 100 butterfly (55.58), also helping the 200 medley relay to a third-place finish. Against Missouri, Barrett finished third in the 100 butterfly (53.47) and was part of the third-place teams in the 200 medley relay (1:39.28) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:19.89). In the victory against Kentucky, she swam on the winning 200 medley relay team (1:36.64) and placed third in both the 50 freestyle (22.79) and the 100 butterfly (53.74), also being part of the runner-up 400 freestyle relay (3:19.16). In the double dual with Wisconsin, Barrett finished fifth in the 100 butterfly (53.27) and seventh in the 50 freestyle (22.77), while also swimming on the second-place 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. At the Cincinnati meet, she secured second place in the 100 freestyle (59.65) and the 100 butterfly (53.30).
Sophomore: At the NCAA Championships, Karoline went 22.38 in the 50 free, 52.66 in the 100 fly and 49.27 in the 100 free. Against Missouri, she was third in the 100 fly (53.47), the 200 Medley Relay (1:39.28) and the 400 Free Relay (3:19.89). Freshman: Karoline Barrett scored 22 points at the ACC Championships in her freshman year. She finished 14th in the 50 freestyle (22.35). In the 100 fly, she won the C-final with a 52.45. She was a relay alternate at the NCAA Championships as well. In the dual season, Karoline placed fourth in the 50 free and the 100 fly versus Kentucky. At the Purdue Invitational, she was fifth in the 50 free and the fourth in the 100 fly. Against Notre Dame, she was second in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 fly. Prep: Barrett joins the Cardinals from Greve, Denmark where she was the top swimmer for her club, Greve Svommeklub (GTI). She qualified for the European Junior Championships in 2016, 2018, and 2019 and was a finalist in 2018. Her club coach was Niklas Brix. Barrett won bronze in the 50 freestyle and silver in the 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly at the 2019 Danish Championships. At the 2018 European Junior Championships, Barrett placed 8th in the 50 freestyle. In 2017, she notched two first place finishes in the 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle and one second place finish in the 50 butterfly at the Nordic Swimming Championships. Barrett holds personal best times of 25.88 in the 50 freestyle, 56.42 in the 100 freestyle, 26.96 in the 50 butterfly, and 1:01.14 in the 100 butterfly.
