Bio
2024-25: At the NCAA Championships, Tristen earned HM All-American honors in the 200 fly (1:53.89), finishing 13th. She also competed in the 200 IM (19th), going 1:55.87) and the 100 fly (17th) with a time of 51.36. At the ACC Championships, she was in the consolation finals in the 200 fly where she touched 12th in 1:55.76, 11th, In the 200 IM (1:56.60) and 14th in the 100 fly (52.01). During the dual meet season, she won the 100 fly at the UofL First Chance Meet (51.86) and won the 200 fly against Indiana (1:56.04). In the meet against rival UK, she picked up two wins, touching first in the 200 fly (1:56.27) as well as the 200 IM (1:57.40) and was third in the 100 fly (52.69). Against Notre Dame, she won the 20 fly with a 1:55.90 and was second in the 200 IM (1:58.34). She was fourth against Tennessee in the 200 fly with a time of 1:56.81. She swam at the SMU Classic where she was third in the 200 fly with a 1:58.82.
2023-24: At the NCAA Championships in Athens, Tristen finished 23rd in the 200 IM (1:56.23) and 25th in the 100 fly (51.76) and 27th in the 200 fly (1:55.89). She was part of the 800 free relay team that placed 13th, going 6:57.65. At the ACC Championships in Greensboro, she won silver as part of the 800 free relay (7:00.31). She swam the 200 IM, placing 17th with a 1:57.43 and was 15th in the finals of the 200 free (1:46.30). She was 10th in the 200 fly (1:57.26). In the dual season, she was second in the 200 free against Xavier and helped win the 400 free relay. At the SMU Classic, she was a part of the winning 200 free relay and placed second in the 800 free relay. Against Notre Dame, she touched second in the 200 IM (2:05.56). She was on the winning 200 medley relay (1:37.74). Against rival Kentucky, Tristen she was third in both in the 200 fly (1:58.84) and the 200 IM (2:00.18) and placed second in both the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay. At the double dual meet with Indiana and Wisconsin, she was third in the 200 fly (1:57.12) and eighth in the 100 fly (53.37). At the Cincinnati meet, she was second in the 200 free (1:46.58) and third in the 100 butterfly (53.71).
2022-23: Tristen Ulett continues to add depth to the flyers, the IMers and relays for the Cardinals. She qualified for the NCAAs for the third straight year. She helped open the meet by swimming in the 800 free relay that finished 11th to earn her HM All-American status with her split of 1:45.73 helped the Cards go 7:00.81 and an 11th place finish. She earned HM All-American honors with her 11th place finish in the 100 fly (51.18) and was 24th in the 200 fly (1:55.85 and 30th in the 200 IM (1:57.12). At the ACC Championships, she scored 63 points for the Cards. She helped the 800 free relay win silver with a time of 6:57.51. She was second in the B-final of the 200 IM with a time of 1:56.75) and made the A-final of the 100 fly where she placed eighth. She made the A-final of the 200 fly, where she finished sixth with a time of 1:55.59. During the dual meet season, at the SMU Classic, she won the 100 back (53.43) and was second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:57.01. While there, she also helped the Cards win the 400 Medley Relay, the 800 Free Relay and the 200 Free Relay. She had wins in the 100 free and the 200 IM and the 100 back against Xavier. At Tennessee, she won the 200 fly, the 100 fly and was on the winning 400 Free Relay. At Notre Dame, she won the 200 free, the 100 free, and the 200 IM. At the Purdue Invitational, she won the 200 IM (1:57.24), was third in the 100 fly before winning the 200 fly in 1:55.78. She also helped the Cards win three relays at that Invitaitonal. At Missouri, she won the 200 freestyle (1:$5.95) and was second in the 200 back (1:57.09). In the meet with Indiana, she won the 200 fly (1:58.40) and was second in the 100 butterfly (52.92).
2021-22: Tristen Ulett continues to be a reliable point scorer for the Cardinals, earning four All-American Honors and two Honorable Mention All American Honors. At the ACC Championships, she scored 43 points. She won a bronze medal as part of the 200 free relay team, splitting 21.82. She touched tenth, in the 200 IM finals with a 1:55.36. She helped the Cards to a fifth place in the 200 medley relay, swimming the backstroke leg in 24.47. Just missing the podium, she touched fourth in both the 100 fly finals (51.39) and the 200 fly (1:55.14). She won another bronze in the final relay of the ACCs with a split of 47.89 in the 400 free relay. At the NCAA Championships, she scored 10 points. She helped the 200 medley relay team to an eighth place with a split of 22.93 and was part of the 800 free relay squad that finished seventh with her anchor split of 1:44.43. She swam a 1:57.52 in the prelims of the 200 IM and was 12th I the finals of the 100 fly, boarding a time of 51.02. She was 12th overall in the 200 fly with a time of 1:53.63 and split 48.00 on the 400 free relay team that finished sixth. She started the dual season with a win against Xavier in the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.45. A highlight at the SMU Classic was the second place finish in the 100 back (53.40). At Tennessee, she won the 100 fly with a time of 53.55, was third in the 200 IM (2:03.40) and second in the 200 fly (2:03.40). At the Purdue Invitational, she touched second in the 100 fly finals (52.07) and third in the 200 fly finals (1:55.87) and was third in the 200 IM finals (1:58.02). Against Indiana, she was second in both the 100 back (53.50) and 100 fly (52.70). Against rival Kentucky, she had her best finish with a second in the 200 fly (1:55.94). Versus Cincinnati, Tristen was second in both the 100 free (49.54) and the 200 fly (1:56.20). A standout student, she was named to the ACC Academic Honor and the University of Louisville AD Honor Roll.
2020-21: Ulett made a major impact during her debut season for the Cardinals. At the NCAA Championships, she finished 22nd in the 100 butterfly (52.30), 23rd in the 200 butterfly (1:56.34), and 37th in the 100 backstroke (53.32). She also led-off UofL’s sixth-place 400 medley relay in 52.39, split 22.14 on the eighth-place 200 freestyle relay, and split 48.43 on the 400 freestyle relay that took 10th. Her lead-off split of 52.39 also eclipsed the freshman program record. At the ACC Championships, she earned bronze in the 200 butterfly (1:55.38), finished seventh in the 100 butterfly (52.05), and took 12th in the 200 individual medley (1:58.10). She also collected bronze as part of two UofL relays: she led off in 52.91 on the 400 medley relay and split 49.12 on the 400 freestyle relay. Ulett also split 1:47.37 on the Cardinals’ 800 freestyle relay that finished fourth overall at ACCs. She posted three top-5 finishes throughout the abbreviated dual meet season, highlighted by a win in the 200 butterfly against Cincinnati. At the Toyota U.S. Open, she flew to 14th in the 200m butterfly. For her efforts in the classroom, she was named to the ACC All-Academic Team.
Prep: Ulett arrives in Louisville from Brookhaven, Georgia, where she had a stellar club career competing for Dynamo Swim Club. A multi-time Junior National, Senior National, and Olympic Trials qualifier, she was ranked No. 13 in SwimSwam’s Top 20 Class of 2020. Ulett is the former National Age Group Record Holder in the 100 butterfly, and although that record has since been broken, she became the first 13-14 girl to crack the 53-second mark and is still ranked No. 2 in both butterfly events for that age group. She has posted eight top-10 finishes at Juniors East over the past two years, including a trio of runner-up showings in 2019. At the Speedo Junior National Championships in 2019, she earned silver in the 100m butterfly, bronze in the 100m freestyle, and placed fourth in the 200m individual medley. A Georgia state record-holder, Ulett was chosen to attend the USA Swimming National Select Camp in 2017 as well as the Butterfly Revolution Camp in 2018. Ulett attended Georgia Connections Academy and was a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. She holds best times of 52.01 in the 100 butterfly, 1:55.74 in the 200 butterfly, 1:46.18 in the 200 freestyle, 52.76 in the 100 backstroke, and 1:56.54 in the 200 individual medley.
