
Cardinals Set Two Records at Friday Prelims at ACC Championships

Murray and Gorbenko put up fastest times in school history
ATLANTA -- There will be 14 Cardinal swimmers and plus the 400 medley relays in the finals tonight after Friday preliminaries at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Championship at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech.Â

Two school records fell in the prelims with Camille Murray and Anastasia Gorbenko putting their names atop the all-time list.

In the 200 fly, Summer Cardwell earned a second swim and will compete in the C-final after posting a 1:59.28. Freshman Kaitlyn Sallows turned in a 2:00.60 in her preliminary heat. Virginia's Tess Howley is the favorite tonight in the finals after putting up a 1:52.89.

Four of the Cardinal men will be in the finals of the 200 fly led by Gregg Enoch's 1:42.00 who will be the favorite in the B-Final. Tommy Bried was .01 behind him and Aidan Paro went 1:42.76 and both will join Enoch in the B. Thomas Powers-Hammond went 1:45.04 to make the C-final for tonight's session. Stanford's Josh Zuchowski put up the fastest prelim time of 1:40.63.

Camille Murray set a school record with a 52.12 to make the A-final of the 100 backstroke. Freshman Julie Mishler will swim in the B-final after putting up a 52.12. Virginia's Claire Curzan, last year's NCAA champion in this event will be the favorite in tonight's final after posting a 48.83, and was the only swimmer sub-fifty.

In the men's 100 back, Filip Kosinski had the fastest prelim time for the Cardinals with a 45.82 and Rian Graham earned a lane in the finals tonight with a time of 45.90 fand both will swim in the B-final. Charlie Crush will compete in the C-final after going 46.06. NC State's Kaii Winkler is the top seed tonight after throwing down a 44.74.Â

Anastasia Gorbenko set a new school record and tied with Eneli Jefimova as the fastest qualifiers in the 100 breaststroke where they will be the favorites tonight. Mia Cheatwood turned in a 1:00.40 and will be the sixth seed in the A-final. Anna Inagaki boarded a 1:03.39 but will not advance.Â

In the men's 100 breaststroke, Jake Eccleston made the B-final with a time of 52.04 and freshman Finnley Conklin made the C with a 52.60. Cal's Yamato Okadome turned in the fastest prelim time with 50.78 being fast enough to be the top seed.Â
