Cardinals Complete Day 2 Prelims at Ohio State Fall Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The University of Louisville swimming team has completed prelims on Day 2 at the Ohio State Fall Invitational at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.

The No. 12/3-ranked Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving teams are racing the nationally ranked Buckeyes. Other schools in attendance will be Indiana, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Ohio University (Diving Only), Cal (Diving Only), and Kenyon (Diving Only).
The meet will be contested over three days with action getting started at 9:30am. Prelims will be conducted in the morning in meters and finals will follow at 5:30 ET in yards.

Gabi Albiero won the 100M butterfly as the only swimmer in the event under a minute. She clocked in at 59.14 for the win for the Cards. Teammate Christiana Regenauer was third with a time of 1:00.38. Tristen Ulett was 13th with a time of 1:02.46 and Karoline Barrett was 16th with a 1:02.57.

In the men's 100M butterfly, Indiana's Tomer Frankel put up a 52.27 for the win. UofL's Dalton Lowe was third in 53.36 with teammates Mateo Miceli touching 11th in 54.65 and Aidan Paro going 54.92. UofL's Gustavo Saldo was 19th (55.20) and Caleb Duncan was 25th (55.89.

In the 400M IM, Louisville Abby Hay had the fastest time with a 4:50.67. UofL's Kim Herkle was fifth (4:53.41) and Summer Cardwell was tied for 10th in 4:55.91. Paige Kuwata turned in a 5:00.99, Jordan Durocher went 5:02.39, Rye Ulett, went 5:07.33 and Zoe Vogelmann boarded a 5:08.33.

In the men's 400M IM, Ohio State's Tristan Jankovics had the fastest time at 4:19.63. Louisville's Tommy Bried was second with a 4:21.65. Cardinals Jackson Millard was fourth (4:23.49), Tyler Watson was fifth (4:24.61) and John Bossler had a time of 4:40.30.

In the 200M freestyle, IU's Anna Peplowski was the only swimmer sub-two minutes at 1:59.18. UofL's Summer Cardwell was fourth in 2:02.60, Paige Hetrick turned in a 2:03.06 and Fernanda Celidonio was ninth at 2:03.43 just ahead of Lucy Mehraban's tenth place finish time of 2:04.05. Madie Hall (2:05.04), Julia Dennis (2:05.60), Maddie Luther (2:05.60), Zoe Vogelman (2:07.95) and Paige McCormick (2:09.21) rounded out the rest of the Cardinal field.

In the men's 200M freestyle, IU's Rafael Miroslaw was first in 1:47.44. Louisville's Murilo Sartori was fourth (1:49.64), Denis Loktev was fifth (1:49.82), Ilia Sibirtsev was sixth (1:50.30) and Kayden Lancaster was seventh (1:50.62). Other Cardinals in the field were Matias Santiso (13th) with a 1:53.17, Or Tal (14th) with a 1:53.20, Guy Brooks (15th) with a 1:53.23.

In the 100M breast, OSU's Hannah Bach had the win with a time of 1:09.35. The top Cardinal was Cecilia Viberg, who was seventh with a 1:11.12. Ella Welch was eighth (1:11.34), Kim Herkle was ninth in 1:11.54) and Adry Kasemets put up a 1:14.47.

In the men's 100M breaststroke, UofL's Denis Petrov edged the field for the win with a 1:00.96. Louisville's Aidan Kreiley was sixth (1:02.98), Luke Shourds was 10th in 1:03.21 and Grant Gooding was 23rd in 1:05.34.

In the 100M backstroke, IU's Mya DeWitt was the winner with a time of 1:01.29. Paige Hetrick was second in 1:01.86 and Lucy Mehraban was fourth with a time of 1:02.27. Ally Boynton was ninth (1:03.07),  Abby Karl was 22nd with a 1:05.48 and Krista Wheeler turned in a 1:08.92.

In the men's 100M backstroke, ND's Tommy Janton won with a time of 54.36. UofL's best time came from Jackson Millard, who put up a 55.91 for seventh. Kasper Johnsen was 14th with a time of 56.76, Dalton Lowe was 15th with a 56.87 and Charlie Crush was 18th with a 57.46. Drew Collins boarded a 57.51, Mateo Miceli had a 57.85 and Yassin Hossam was 25th with a 58.31.
