Bio
2024-25: After a promising fall, Yassin battled injury and was unavailable in the second semester of the year. Against Xavier, he was second in the 50 free (20.48). In the meet with Tennessee, he was fourth in the 50 free (19.78) and sixth in the 100 free (44.19). In the Purdue meet, he was sixth in the 100 back (48.81) and at the Ohio State Invitational, he was 8th in both the 100 back (46.59) and the 100 fly (46.30), An excellent relay swimmer, he helped the Cards touch second in the 200 free relay (1:16.36) at Ohio State where he also led the Cards to a win in the 200 medley relay (1:22.58). At Tennessee, he led the Cards to a 1:23.96 in the 200 medley relay.
Prep: Abdelghany comes to Louisville from Egypt where he attended the El Zahraa American School. He swam for Smouha Swim Club for coach Ahmed Khalil. He is coming off a 16th place finish at the 2023 World Aquatic Championships in Fukuoka, Japan competing in the 50 back (LCM) putting up a PB time of 25.22. In 2022, he competed at the 2022 Egypt National Championships in the 50 free (LCM). His wins at the 2021 African Swimming Championships in Accra include the gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter freestyle and the bronze medal in the 50 meter freestyle. He also competed in the junior races in this competition, winning gold in the 4 x 100-meter freestyle, silver in the 50 meter freestyle, 4 x 100 meter medley and 4 x 100 meter mixed medley and bronze. over 100 meters backstroke.
Personal: He is the son of Hossameldin and Refaat. Born March 25, 2003. Major is computer science.
