Bio
2024-25: A member of the Cards’ distance corps, he finished sixth in the 1000 against Indiana with a 9:35.90. At Missouri, he swam the 1000 free with a fifth place time of 9:34.02. He was sixth in the 1000 free versus Purdue with a 9:41.68 and seventh against Kentucky in the 1000 with a 9:43.88. Against Cincinnati on Senior Day, he touched sixth in the 100 back (53.31) and seventh in the 200 breast (2:13.38).
2023-24: During the dual meet season, John was third in the 1000 free against Xavier and was seventh in both the 1000 free (9:30.76) and the 500 free (4:38.16). In the meet with Notre Dame, he was fifth in the 1000 (9:33.38). Against Cincinnati, he swam the 200 free (1:41.95).
2022-23: John Bossler provides much-needed depth in the distance corps. During the dual season, he finished fourth in the 1000 versus Xavier and sixth against Notre Dame. At the Purdue Invitational, he was 20th in the 500 free and 18th in the 400 IM while finishing ninth in the 1650 freestyle. At Missouri, he was sixth in the 1000 freestyle and eighth against Kentucky. Against Indiana, he was seventh in the 1000 freestyle and sixth against Cincinnati.
2021-22: As a freshman in the Cards’ home opener vs. Xavier, John posted a time of 9:51.31 in the 1000 yard freestyle, earning a fourth place finish. At the Purdue Invitational, Bossler finished third in the 500 free C – Final (4:32.88), third in the 400 IM C – Final (4:00.04), and 11th in the 1650 free (15:48.82). He also competed in the 1000 free at Indiana (9:26.11) earning a seventh place finish and the 400 IM (4:05.25) earning eighth. In the 1650 free at Kentucky, Bossler posted a time of 15:43.47, finishing seventh. Bossler earned a third place in the 1000 free at Cincinnati with a time of 9:17.81. His performance in the Louisville Invitational ended his season with success, posting a second place finish in the 500 free (4:25.08).
Prep: John came from Edwardsburg, Mich, where he swam for Irish Aquatics and owns a pair of U.S. Open standards, during the long course season, he placed 21st in the 800m free and 24th in the 1500m free at Junior Nationals. He raced two events at Juniors East before going on to earn four best times at Indianapolis Sectionals where his highest finish was an 11th-place showing in the 800m free. As a junior at South Bend Saint Joseph High School, Bossler placed seventh in the 500 free and 12th in the 200 free as a sophomore at the Indiana State Championships. In all he was a two-time state champion and US Open Qualifer. He was a five-time IHSAA State Finalist, a four-time conference champion and a NISCA All-American in the 500 Freestyle. A strong student, he was a four-time Scholastic All-American.
