Bio
2024-25: At the ACC Championships in Greensboro, he finished 23rd in the 100 breast (52.81) and 25th in the 200 breast (1:56.19). During the dual meet season, he was fourth in the 100 breast with a 54.42 and second in the 200 breast with a 2:00.97 versus Tennessee. He was fourth in the 100 breast (54.90) and the 200 breast (2:01.43) versus Purdue and 13th in the 200 breast at the Ohio State Invitational. At Missouri, he was fifth in the 100 breast (54.91) and was fourth I the 100 breast with a 54.25 in the meet with Kentucky where he also touched fifth with a time of 2:00.17 in the 200 breast. Against Indiana, he was seventh in both the 100 breast (53.92) and the 200 breast (1:59.38). He had a second place finish in the 100 breast versus Cincinnati.
2023-24: At the ACC Championships, Luke was 23rd in the 200 IM final, 16th in the 100 breast (53.13) and 21st in the 200 breast (1:57.37). In the dual meet season, Luke was sixth in the 200 IM and fourth in the 400 breast and the 200 medley relay in the meet with Tennessee. Against Notre Dame, he was fifth in the 100 breast, eighth in the 200 breast and was on the fourth place 200 medley relay team. At the meet with Missouri, he was third in the 100 breast (54.90) and fifth in the 200 breast as well as swimming on the fourth place 200 medley relay team. Against rival Kentucky, he was second in the 100 breast (53.57) and fourth in the 200 breast (1:59.71) and fifth in the 200 IM as well as swimming on the second-place 200 medley relay. In the double dual meet with Indiana and Wisconsin, he touched ninth in the 100 breast (54.49) and ninth in the 200 breast. In the final meet of the dual season against Cincinnati, he was second in the 200 breast (2:00.97) and fourth in the 100 breast (54.88).
2022-23: Luke qualified for the ACC Championships in 2023. He made the C-final in the 200 IM with a 1:46.18 and was in the B-final of the 100 breast, touching 12oth overall with a 53.21. He was in the C-final of the 200 breast, touching 21st overall with a time of 1:57.24. In the dual meet season, he started the year out with fourth place finishes in the 100 breasts and the 200 Medley Relay. At Tennessee, he was seventh in the 200 medley relay and the 100 breast and sixth in the 200 breast. At Notre Dame, he was second in the 200 IM with a 1:51.15 and was sixth in both the 200 breast and the 200 medley relay. He clocked in fourth in the 100 breast as well. At the Purdue Invitational, he was fifth in the finals of the 200 IM and the 400 Medley Relay. He was eighth in the 200 Medley Relay, and the 100 breast finals. At Missouri, he was fifth in both the 100 and 200 breast as well as helping the 200 Medley Relay team to a sixth place finish. Against rival Kentucky, he was third in the 200 medley relay and fourth in the 100 breaststroke, fifth in the 200 breast and sixth in the 200 IM. In the meet with Indiana, Luke was fourth in the 100 breast and the 200 IM. He was seventh in the 200 breast and sixth as a part of the 200 medley relay team. Against Cincinnati, he was on the winning 200 Medley Relay team and was second in the 100 breaststroke.
2021-22: Shourds had a strong dual season with several top-8 finishes. He swam the breaststroke leg for the 200 medley relay that placed fourth against Cincinnati (24.09 split) and fourth against Kentucky (24.64 split). A strong contender in the 100 breaststroke, Shourds finished runner-up against the Bearcats, fourth against the Wildcats, eighth against the Hoosiers, and seventh at the Purdue Invitational with a personal best of 54.12. Shourds also competed in the 200 breaststroke against Kentucky and Indiana, placing sixth and eighth, respectively. He was named to the ACC Academic Honor and the University of Louisville AD Honor Roll.
Prep: Luke came to Louisville from Bowling Green's Greenwood High School, where he specialized in IM and breaststroke and is a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 100/200 breast and the 200 IM. He placed 6th in the 200 IM (1:54.40) and 10th in the 100 breast (58.27) as a sophomore at the Kentucky High School State Championships. Shourds does his year-round swimming with RACE Aquatics Swim Club. In 2021, Shourds finished second in the breaststroke and fourth in the 100 free at the KHSAA state. He qualfied for the Olympic Trials in the 100 breaststroke at the TYR Spring Cup in Orlando. In 2020, he won the 50 free and 100 breast in the KHSAA Region Two Championship and was a finalist at the USA Swimming Futures in the 200 IM in Greensboro. A strong student, he earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors.
