Cards hold off Noles in first day of racing
After one day of racing in the two-day format, the University of Louisville women swimming and diving team lead ACC rival Florida State 114.5 - 52.5 while the men are holding off the Seminoles 84 – 83 Friday night at the Morcom Aquatic Center.

The women started off the evening strongly with a win in the 200-free relay with a 1:32.29 posted by Andrea Kneppers (24.16), Kelsi Worrell (21.91), Mallory Comerfod (22.75) and Andrea Cottrell (23.47).

On the men's side, FSU took the win in 1:20.59 just ahead of Louisville's 1:21.12. Grigory Tarasevich (20.67), Trevor Carroll (20.09), David Boland (20.13) and Matthias Lindenbauer 20.23

In the 200-IM, UofL freshman Rachael Bradford Feldman took top honors with a 2:02.56. Devon Bibault was second in 2:08.33 and Manuela Sampaio made it a sweep with a third place time of 2:08.83.

Louisville made it a sweep in the men's 200-IM as well, led by Nolan Tesone's win in 1:47.46, followed by Carlos Claverie's 1:50.08 second place time and Josh Quallen holding off FSU to complete the sweep with a 1:51.68.

In the 500-free, Cardinal freshman Mallory Comerford took first in 4:51.44 with teammate Abigail Houck touching second in 4:53.51 and Marah Pugh completing the 1-2-3 sweep with a third place time of 4:55.06.

Trevor Carroll won the men's 500-free with a 4:34.53. Cardinal teammates Jake Schultz (4:36.62) and Ryan Massey (4:38.71) made it yet another Cardinal sweep.

Cardinal Andrea Cottrell finished a full second ahead of the field in the 100-breast with a 1:02.76. Rachael Bradford Feldman was third in 1:04.26.

In the men's 100-breast, FSU's Jason Coombs took top honors with a 55.13. Carlos Claverie was second in 55.29 and Dexter Thomas was fourth in 57.49.

 Cardinal Ashley LeClair won the 200-back with a 1:59.57 as the only woman under two minutes. Alina Kendzior was second in 2:00.20 and Hannah Magnuson was fourth in 2:05.09.

In the men's 200-back, Grigory Tarasevich was best in the field with a 1:45.01. Aaron Greene was second in 1:47.18 and Nolan Tesone was third in 1:47.36.

In the 100-freestyle, Kelsi Worrell won in 49.52, almost two second ahead of FSU's Lydia Ware (51.85).

In the men's 100-free, Trevor Carroll had his second win of the day with a 45.05. Matthias Lindenbauer was fourth in 45.51 in a tightly contested finish.

Abigail Houck won the 200-fly with a time of 2:00.53. Marah Pugh was third in 2:01.43 and Devon Bibault was fourth in 2:06.13.

In the men's 200-fly, FSU's Cole Hensley was first in 1:47.42. Cardinal freshman Zach Harting touched second in 1:50.32. Josh Quallen was third in 1:51.48.

In 1-meter diving, Andrea Acquista was the top Cardinal with a second place score of 308.93. Mady Ingmire was third with a 296.63. In the men's 1-meter, Daniel Fecteau was third, posting a 304.35.

In the 400-medley relay, the Cardinals beat the Noles by four seconds with a 3:41.04. Alina Kendzior led off with a 55.78 in the backstroke. Andrea Cottrell put up a 1:02.74 in the breaststroke followed by Kelsi Worrell's 52.43 in the fly and an anchor of 50.09 by Mallory Comerford.

The men were second in their 400-MR, with a 3:14.96 just being outtouched by FSU's A relay which put up a 3:14.79. The Cards' foursome consisted of Grigory Tarasevich (47.72), Carlos Claverie (54.50), Pedro Coutinho (48.11) and Matthias Lindenbauer (44.63).
