Bio
Junior: Kelsi exploded on to the national and international scene last season. She was the NCAA Champion in the 100-fly with the time of 49.81, which set an American Record and an NCAA Record. She then took the NCAA champion in the 200 butterfly with the time of 1:51.11. She was third at NCAAs in 50-Free with a 21.62 and was part of the second place 200-medley relay, swimming the fly leg in 21.96. The Cards were, 6th in 400 Medley Relay AT NCAAs thanks to her third leg split of 50.09. At NCAAs, she helped the Cards to an 11th in 400-free relay, swimming the second leg in 47.66. At the ACC Championships, she won 100-free with a ACC meet record 47.71 and then won 100-fly win 50.17. She was second in 50 free, posting a 22.12 and swam the third leg of 200 Medley relay (22.34) to win ACC. She swam the lead off leg of the 200-free relay in 22.28 and helped the Cards finish fifth at ACCs. She was the second leg of the ACC bronze medal 400 Free Relay, splitting 47.39. She was named ACC Swimmer of the Year. In her first international competition, she won Pan Am Gold in the 100-fly going 57.24. She helped Team USA win Pan Am Gold in the 4 x 100 Medley Relay going 3:57.35 with a split 57.63 which was not only a Pan Am record but became the first women to break four minutes. She won Pan Am Silver in the 4 X 100 Free Relay with a time of 3:37.28 with her splitting 54.03. At the Arena Pro Series in Mesa, she was first in 400 Medley Relay with a split of 1:00.05. She also won the Arena Pro Series gold in the 100-M Fly with a time of 58.24. She won a gold medal at USA Nationals swimming the lead off leg of the championship 4x100 Free Relay in 54.73. She also won gold at USA Nationals in the 100-M Fly with a time of 57.27 and was fourth at USA Nationals in 100 back (1:00.37). She was named to the USA National Team. She was a second team CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Sophomore: Kelsi was the runner-up in the 100-butterfly with a time of 51.09 at the NCAA Championships. She also posted a school record in the 200-fly in a fourth place finish of 1:53.63. Worrell also competed in a relay squad that posted a 4th place finish in the consolation finals. Kelsi was named to the All-American Conference team after claiming four gold and two silver medals at the American Conference Championships. She won the 100-freestyle, 200-medley relay, 400-freestyle relay, 800-freestyle relay, while placing runner-up in the 100-butterfly and 400-medley relay. Kelsi qualified in the 50-freestyle, and the 100- and 200-butterfly for the NCAA Championships. Her time of 22.40 in the 50-free put her 39th overall, with the top time being 21.54. She has the 11th-best time in the 100-fly with a time of 51.76. The best time is 51.13. Kelsi is seventh overall in the 200-fly, going 1:54.12. 1:52.19 is the top time in that event.
Freshman: Worrell had a big impact on the Cardinals as a freshman. Worrell had a great swim in the 100-butterfly where she set a new BIG EAST record in a time of 51.55. She held the fastest time in the nation in the 100-fly for most of the year. At the NCAA championships, Worrell took 4th place in the 100-butterfly in 51.80, naming her an All- American. Also at NCAA, Worrell placed 26th in both the 50- and 100-freestyle in 22.53 and 49.10. Worrell was crowned champion at the BIG EAST Championships in the 50-freestyle in 22.62 and 100-freestyle in 49.02, alongside of her 100 butterfly. Worrell earned All- BIG EAST recognition. Worrell swam the lead leg of the meet record setting 400-freestyle relay that earned an A-cut for NCAA's. At the Charlotte UltraSwim, Worrell made the A- final in three events, placing third in the 50- and 100-meter butterfly in 26.94, and 59.33 respectively. In the 200-meter butterfly, she placed 6th in 2:15.04, 15th in the 100-meter freestyle in 57.61. At Mesa Grand Prix, Worrell took 4th in the 50-meter freestyle in 25.84, and 8th in the 100-meter freestyle 56.22. Worrell would have won the 100-meter butterfly, however swam a prelim time of 59.20. Worrell was chosen to compete at the SMU Classic and was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Prep: Senior National Qualifier and New Jersey State Champ Kelsi Worrell joins the Cardinals from Westampton, N.J. and the Jersey Storm Swim team where she was coached by Garrett Clark. Her multiple athletic achievements include All- American status in the 100-fly (54.93), 100-back (56.81), and 100-free (50.84). She has been named Rancocas Valley High School Swim Team MVP and Burlington County Swimmer of the year for four consecutive years. Kelsi had a breakout summer, getting a second swim at the USA Junior Nationals in the 100-free (57.58) made the Olympic Trials in the 100-fly. She was a three-time state champion in the 100-fly, and also won the 100-free and was named New Jersey Swimmer of the Year. Along with her many athletic accomplishments, Kelsi is an USA Swimming Scholastic All American.
