No. 7/11 Swimming and Diving Head to Florida State for ACC Matchup

Cards will race in two day format
The University of Louisville swimming and diving teams will kick off the 2016 year with a two-day meet as they travel to Tallahassee, Florida to face ACC foe, Florida State, at Morcom Aquatics Center.
Both squads for the Cardinals are ranked as the men are ranked No. 7 while the women are ranked No. 11 in the latest CSCAA poll. The Seminole men are ranked No. 23 in the latest poll. The two teams will face off Friday night at 5 p.m. before concluding the meet on Saturday morning with a 9 a.m. start.
Both Louisville squads are 0-1 in the ACC as both fell to North Carolina earlier this season. Both Florida State squads are 0-2 in the ACC as they fell to Duke and NC State earlier this year.
Coming off a month long winter break since Louisville last competed at the UofL Invitational, the men scored 2,461 points to defeat Wright State and Kenyon College. The women scored 2,067.50 points en route to a victory over Ohio, Illinois State, Kenyon College, and Wright State.
Trevor Carroll earned his second ACC Male Swimmer of the Week honors after posting three individual and five relay wins to lead the Cardinals to a first place finish at the UofL Invitational.
Senior Kelsi Worrell, who set both a World and American record in competition at Duel in the Pool, leads the women to its second ACC matchup of the season. Worrell finished second in the 100 butterfly in 55.42 which set an American record. Worrell was a member of the American 400-Medley relay squad that set a World Record of 3:45.20. Andrea Cottrell, who earned her second ACC Female Swimmer of the Week honor, posted two individual and two relay event victories in the UofL Invitational.
The Seminole men are 3-3 on the year while women boast a 5-5 record leading up to this weekend's meet. The two squads fell to No. 3/14 Florida in a rivalry matchup last weekend. The men fell 188-109 while the women fell 200-93. Sophomore Connor Kalisz and junior Jason Coombs led the Seminoles with a first place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke, respectively. Sophomore Chad Mylin added a victory in the 50m free for the Seminoles. The team swept both diving events with sophomore Tyler Roberge taking first on the 3-meter while senior Kalonji Cole won the 1-meter. The women were led by sophomore Natalie Pierce we won the 100m breast.
After a week off, the Cardinals will face Kentucky in the Battle of the Bluegrass matchup on Jan 23 at 1 p.m. inside Ralph Wright Natatorium.Â
