Junior: Current USA National Team member Andrea Cottrell is back for her senior season. At the U.S. Open she was a two- time Finalist with a 6th place in the 100-meter breast with a 1:09.01. She was seventh in the 200-meter breast, clocking in at 2:28.75. At the United States Olympic Trials, she was a two- time Finalist with a fifth place 100-meter breast boarding a 1:07.21. She was seventh place 200-meter breast, going 2:27.67. At the ACCs, she was the champion in the 100-breast with a 58.26. She was second in the 200-breast with a 2:07.42 and was sixth in the 200-IM with a time of 1:57.90. Andrea won gold as part of the 200-medley relay (1:35.43) with her split of 26.35. She was part of the fourth place 200-free relay team (1:28.65) with an anchor of 22.42. She won silver in the 400-medley relay (3:28.32) At NCAAs, she was a part of the 400-medley relay team that won silver with a time of 3:27.58 including her split of 58.23. She was sixth in the 100-breast, boarding a 58.78. In the 200-medley relay, she helped (27.23) the Cards to a time of 1:36.45. In the dual meet season, she had wins in the 100-breast against Xaver, at the SMU Classsic, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida State and Kentucky. She had wins in the 200-breast at the SMU Classic and versus Cincinnati, North Carolina and Kentucky. At the Arena Pro Swim Series Indy, she was a three-time finalist with a second place finish in the 100-meter Breast with a 1:07.95. She was sixth in the 6th 200-meter breast, turning in a 2:29.31. She also finished eighth place 200-meter IM, posting a time of 2:19.70. In Charlotte, she was 10th in the 100-meter breast (1:09.09) and eighth in the 200-meter breast (2:32.05). In Mesa, she was 12th in the 100-meter breast (1:09.51), 16th in the 200-meter breast (2:35.42) and 26th in the 200-meter IM (2:21.36). She was a CSCAA Scholar All American, She was All-ACC in three events. She was an ACC Swimmer of the Week a league-leading three times. She was named to the All-ACC Academic team and is one of the SAAC members as a swimming representative.
Sophomore: Andrea Cottrell had a breakout year as a sophomore earning All-ACC in five events, being named to the All-ACC Academic list and earning All-American honors in two events and honorable mention All-American kudos in another. At the ACC Championships, she swam the second leg of 200 Medley relay (26.90) for a silver medal. She made the B-final of the
200 IM, where she finished 12th overall with a time of 1:58.72. She was third in A final in 200 breast with 2:08.48 for a bronze medal. At the NCAA Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina, she made the 100-breast B- final, finishing 11th with a 59.45. She then swam the second leg At NCAAs, helping the Cards to a silver in the in 200-Medley Relay with a split of 26.55. She was also part of the sixth place 400 Medley Relay team, swimming the breaststroke leg in 58.72. Named as a member the USA National team, she finished fourth in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:28.08 at the World University Games in Gwangzou, South Korea. She also competed at the Arena Pro Series in Mesa where she was seventh in the 200-meter breast with a 2:34.19 and 10th in 100-meter breaststroke, going 1:10.94. She was a part of the gold medal 400 Medley Relay team with a 1:09.72 split in Mesa as well. At USA Nationals, she was fourth in the 100-meter breast, going 1:07.63 and was fifth in the 200-meter breast with a time of 2:28.12. She won gold in the 4x100-meter Free Relay at USA Nationals with anchor of 56.79 and was a part of the fourth place team in the 4x100-meter Medley Relay, swimming the breaststroke leg in 1:08.13.
Freshman: Andrea was named to the All-American Conference team with first place finishes in the 100-breaststroke and the 400-freestyle relay, along with a second place finish with the 400-medley relay, and third place finishes in the 50-freestyle and 200-freedtyle relay. She qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100- and 200-breaststroke. She finished 24th in the 200 breast with a time of 2:10.29 and 26th in the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.84. Her time in the AAC 100-breaststoke of 59.35 put her ninth overall, with the top time being 57.28. In the 200-breaststroke she is 37th overall with a time of 2:10.81; first place is 2:04.34. She was a member of the relay squad that posted a fourth place finish in the consolation bracket.
Prep: Andrea Cottrell hails from Reynoldsburg, Ohio where she attended Bishop Hartley High School and was crowned state champion in the 100- breaststroke in 2012. As a member of Greater Columbus Swim Team of Ohio, Cottrell qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trails in the 100- meter breaststroke, and was a finalist at the short course Junior Nationals.
