Bio
Junior: Jake continued to add depth in the distance events for the Cardinals. At ACCs, he was in the finals of the 500 free, finishing 7th in the B-final with a time of 4:26.01. He also finalled in the 1650-free with a 15:45.31 and 27th place for a total of 12 points for the Cards. In the dual season, he made a strong showing at Florida State with a pair of seconds in the 500 with 4:36.62 and the 1000 with a 9:37.62. He won the 1650 at the UofL Invitational with a 15:36.96. In the Arena Pro Series in Indy, he was 12th in the 400-meter IM with a 4:28.54. He was 20th in the 400-meter free with a 4:03.44. In the 1500 meter freestyle, he was 18th with a 16;31.62.
Sophomore: In his sophomore campaign, Jake swam distance events for the Cardinals. At the Louisville Invitational, Jake recorded the best time in the 400 IM in which he swam 3:51.09 earning a B-cut time. Schultz also had the best time in the 500 free at the Louisville Invitational in which he recorded his season-best time of 4:25.69. Schultz competed in the 1000 free and was the second Cardinal to finish with a time of 9:31.13 against UNC. Jake also competed in the grueling 1650 freestyle event and finished third with a time of 16:25.72 against Cincinnati. At Ohio State with Indiana, he was 11th in the 1000-free. At the USA Short Course Nationals, Jake made the finals in the 1650-free with a 15:36.21. He also was a part of the 4x200 free relay team that finished 9th, with Jake splitting 1:39.03 in the anchor leg. At the Arena Pro Series in Charlotte, he made the finals in the 800-free with a 24th place, going 8:45.94. He also made the finals in the 1500-meter free with a 29th place overall and a time of 16:44.13. Schultz was named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Freshman: Schultz kicked off his first season with the Cardinals with an All-AAC selection with two third place finishes at the AAC Championships. Jake took third in the 400-IM with a time of 3:54.53 while finishing with a time of 15:31.89 in the 1650-free at the AAC Championships. Schultz took first place against Kentucky in the 500-free with a time of 4:31.91 and finished first in a dual meet with Cincinnati in the 1650-free while finishing runner-up in the 1000-free against Tennessee and the 1650-free in the Michigan Invite.
Prep: Jacob Schultz is a native Louisvillian and attended Ballard High School and swam for Lakeside Seahawks. While attending Ballard, Schultz made Kentucky's All- State and All- Region teams, earned All- American times in the 200- and 500- freestyle, and was named a 3-time All- American Scholar. Schultz holds the 15-18 Age Group State Records for Kentucky in the 400- meter freestyle in 3:59.90 and the 500- freestyle in 4:23.00. Schultz was also a Junior and National Qualifier.
