
No. 11/8 Cardinals Complete Day 2 at ACC Championships

The women are in third and the men are in fifth after two days of competition
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The No. 11/8 University of Louisville swimming and diving team sent 21 swimmers and a diver to the finals on Wednesday evening at the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The Louisville women (397) are in third place behind leader Virginia (494.5) and Stanford (413). Cal is in fourth (308.5), UNC (260) is fifth to round out the top five. The Louisville men are in fifth place with 282 points. Cal leads the field with 457 followed by Stanford (402), UNC (383), NC State (379).

Louisville won silver in the women's 200 free relay with a time of 1:25.52 put up by Caroline Larsen (21.21), Julia Dennis (20.78), Gabi Albiero (21.60) and Ella Welch (21.43). Virginia put up the gold medal time of 1:24.03. Claire Curzan  ( 21.40), Gretchen Walsh (20.02), Alex Walsh (21.23 and Maxine Parker (21.38) made the top of the podium

The men were ninth in the 200 free relay as Guy Brooks (19.52), Dalton Lowe (18.76), Rian Graham (19.01) and Mateo Santiso (19.52) combined for a 1:16.83 in the timed final. The event was won by the Wolfpack of NC State with a time of 1:14.29 for their third consecutive gold while setting the meet record.

In the women's 500 freestyle, Amelia Bodenstab turned in a 4:42.52 in the A-final to finish seventh. Daria Golovaty hung on to win the B-final with a time of 4:39.25. Summer Cardwell was fifth, boarding a 4:42.54 and Leticia Romao was sixth with a time of 4:43.10. Virginia's Katie Grimes won gold with a 4:32.69 after chasing down leader Aurora Roghair of Stanford.

In the men's 500 freestyle, Denis Loktev took fifth in the B-final with a time of 4:17.49 with freshman Gregg Enoch taking seventh in the same final with a time of 4:18.71. In the C-final, Eli Shoyat stopped the clock in 4:16.59 for third and teammate Gustavo Saldo rallied late to touch fourth in 4:16.94. Lucas Henveux of Cal set a pool, meet and conference record with a 4:08.83 for gold.

In the 200 Individual Medley, Fernanda Celidonio took eighth in the A-final with a time of 1:56.75. In the B-final, Tristen Ulett battled down the freestyle leg in a tightly contested finish, going 1:56.60 for third. In the C-final, Kim Herkle was into the wall fourth, stopping the clock at 1:57.55.  Torri Huske of Stanford put up a blistering time of 1:51.46 for gold.

In the men's 200 IM, Jackson Millard put up a time of 1:44.04 for fifth in the B-final. Aidan Paro was seventh in the C-final after going 1:45.01. The event was won by Virginia Tech's Carles Coll Marti, who threw down a 1:40.95 for gold.

Julia Dennis won silver in the 50 freestyle after putting up a time of 21.08. Her time ranks sixth all-time in NCAA history. Joining her in the A-Final was Caroline Larsen, who touched fifth with a 21.63 just ahead of teammate Gabi Albiero, who clocked in at 21.71. Virginia's Gretchen Walsh took gold with a time of 20.60. In the B-final, Lucy Mehraban was sixth with time of 22.05 and Ella Welch was right there for seventh and a time of 22.06. Abby Karl started out the sprinters with a sixth place finish in the C-final, going 22.45.

In the men's 50 freestyle, Dalton Lowe won the C-final, turning in a 19.19 for the win. In the B-final, Guy Brooks timed in at 19.75 for seventh. The event was won by NC State's Quinton McCarty, who went 18:63 to upset favorite John Alexy of California, who won silver in 18.74.

In men's 1-meter springboard, Louisville's Rayce Winn qualified for finals and then placed sixth overall with a score of 339.25 for the six dive program. Â Stanford's Jack Ryan won the event with a mark of 411.95.
