No. 12/7 Cards Sweep Rival No. 21/NR Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 12/7 University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving team swept No. 21/NR Kentucky Thursday evening at Ralph Wright Natatorium. The men came out on top 209-91, while the women won 218-82.
The UofL women showed out with dominant performances across the board. Sophomore sprinter Caroline Larsen finished top two in all her events, including a win in the 100 fly, 200-medley relay, and 200 free relay. Sophomore Leticia Fassina Romao earned a victory in both the 1000 free and 500 free. Junior Summer Cardwell placed top two in all three of her events, coming out on top in the 200 free and 200 IM. Junior Samm Helmboldt won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
For the Cardinal men, senior Jackson Millard placed top two in three of his four events, recording the win in the 200 back, 200 IM, and 200-medley relay. Sophomore Aiden Musso also earned the victory is three of his four events, notching the edge in the 100 fly, 200-medley relay, and 200-free relay. Freshman sprinter Nikita Sheremet placed top three in all his events, including wins in the 200-medley relay and 200-free relay. Sophomore Mack Molloy swept both diving events (1-meter and 3-meter).
UofL stays home at Ralph Wright Natatorium tomorrow night to host No. 25/NR Notre Dame starting at 6 p.m. ET.

In the 200-medley relay, the Cardinals took the top two spots led by the A-relay team of Camille Murray (24.98), Ella Welch (27.18), Caroline Larsen (22.29) and Julia Dennis (20.77) put up the winning time of 1:35.22 for an NCAA qualifying time. Abby Karl (24.64), Mia Cheatwood (27.09), Karoline Barrett (23.22) and Julie Mishler (21.38) combined forces for a 1:36.33. For the men, Jackson Millard (21.29), Finnley Conklin (23.67), Aiden Musso (19.69) and Nikita Sheremet (18.77) went 1:23.42 for an NCAA qualifying time.
Leticia Romao of Louisville won the 1000 freestyle, pulling away from the field with a 9:36.24, almost 13 seconds ahead of the field. Maya Bezanson turned in a third-place time of 9:54.20. Kentucky's Carson Hick won the 1000 free with a time of 8:54.41. Tommy Bried touched third as the first UofL finisher with a time of 8:59.00.
UofL's Summer Cardwell won the women's 200 free with a D1 qualifying time of 1:44.26 just edging teammates Daria Golovaty (1:45.02) and Julia Dennis 1:45.64) to complete the 1-2-3 sweep. Louisville's Guy Brooks touched first in the men's 200 freestyle with a time of 1:34.30 just edging teammate Oscar Isberg's 1:34.39 with Matias Santiso completing the sweep with a 1:35.13. Kayden Lancaster had the fourth fastest time in exhibition with a 1:37.60.
In the 100 backstroke, Camille Murray powered into the wall first with a time of 52.88. Xeniya Ignatova was third with a 53.52. Filip Kosinski, the reigning ACC Swimmer of the Week, won the men's 100 back with a time of 46.33 just out-touching teammate Jackson Millard's 46.54.
The Louisville women swept the top three spots in the 100 breaststroke, led by Mia Cheatwood's 58.97. Caroline Larsen was second with a 59.79 and Anna Inagaki was third with a 1:01.75. The top two were NCAA D1 qualifying marks. UK's Adomas Gatulis won the men's 100 breaststroke with a time of 52.89. Louisville touched 2-3-4 led by Jake Eccleston's 53.27, Grant Gooding (53.82) and Finnley Conklin (53.89).
In the women's 200 fly, Wildcat Billie Sherratt won with a 1:57.74. Kaitlin Sallows was second, going 1:59.42 and teammate Sophia Rodriguez was fourth, stopping the clock at 2:01.77. Louisville's Aidan Paro won the men's 200 fly with a time of 1:43.97 just edging teammate Gregg Enoch's second-place time of 1:43.99. Thomas Powers-Hammond was fourth with a 1:45.40.
Freshman Julie Mishler led the Cardinals' 1-2-3-4 sweep of the 50 freestyle. Mishler was into the wall first with a 22.01 followed by Ella Welch (22.37), Karoline Barrett (22.91) and Avery Karl had the fourth fastest time of 23.54 in exhibition. In the men's 50 free, UK's Falemana Tuufui touched in 19.35 for the win. UofL's Nikita Sheremet was second in 19.30 and teammate Ethan Chauliaguet was third in 19.72.
The Louisville women swept the top three spots in the 100 free, led by Daria Golovaty's 48.46. Ella Welch was second in 48.54 and Julie Mishler was third in 48.91. UK's Falemana Tuufui made it a sprint sweep, winning the men's 100 free with a 42.96. Louisville followed in the next three sports led by Guy Brooks (42.97), Nikita Sheremet (43.65) and Matias Santiso (43.77).
Louisville freshman Xeniya Ignatova won the 200 back by the slimmest of margins with a 1:54.39, edging UK's Fernanda DeGoeij's 1:54.40. Louisville's Sadie Murphy was fourth with a 1:58.41 and Maya Bezanson was fifth, turning in a 1:58.45. Jackson Millard dueled teammate Filip Kosinski down the stretch, touching 1:41.33 and 1:41.47.
In the 200 breast, Mia Cheatwood pulled away from the field, winning in 2:07.85. Kim Herkle was second in 2:10.44. The Cardinal men took the top two spots in the 200-breast led by Jake Eccleston's 1:55.79, with Tommy Bried touching second in 1:59.04.
Leticia Romao won the 500 freestyle for the Cardinals with a time of 4:42.21 just ahead of teammate Summer Cardwell's 4:44.04. Louisville's Oscar Isberg won the men's 500 freestyle with a 4:18.33. Cardinal Gregg Enoch was third with a 4:25.72.
In men's 3M diving, Mack Molloy put up a 364.88 for the win just ahead of Ray Preas' 355.88. Molloy made it a sweep with a win in the 1M (329.03)
In women's 1M diving, Samm Helmboldt put up the winning score of 293.33. Maud Van Kampen was fourth with a mark of 277.13. Helmboldt won the 3M board as well with a 313.80.
Caroline Larsen won the 100 fly, turning in a 51.68 leading a 1-2-3 sweep, followed by Karoline Barrett (53.87) and Sophia Rodriguez (54.60). The Louisville men followed suit, with Aiden Musso touching first in 45.95 just ahead of Aidan Paro (46.68) and Rian Graham (46.71).
In the women's 200 IM, Summer Cardwell won with a time of 1:58.73 just ahead of Cardinal teammate Kim Herkle's 1:59.19. Jackson Millard won the men's 200 IM, with a 1:44.25 leading a Cardinal sweep with Gregg Enoch next (1:47.08), Aidan Paro (1:47.55).
In the 200 free relay, the Louisville A-relay of Caroline Larsen (21.96), Julia Dennis (20.95), Julie Mishler (21.58) and Ella Welch (21.79) put up the winning time of 1:26.28. For the men, UofL took the top two spots led by Nikita Sheremet (19.51), Charlie Crush (18.80), Aidan Musso (18.96) and Rian Graham (19.51) worked together to board a 1:16.78. The B-relay team of Guy Brooks (19.75), Ethan Chauliaguet (19.37), Bryan Lombardi (20.05) and Ryan Henderson (19.14) went 1:18.31 for second.
