
Swimming and Diving Completes Day 1 at Cardinal First Chance

Cards rack up B-cuts
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville swimming and diving teams wrapped up the first day of the Louisville Invitational with 16 NCAA B-cuts.
The night started off with the women's 200 free relay team of Hannah Magnuson, Clara Baggett, Alex Sellers, and Ashley Leclair finishing in 1:32.43. On the men's side, the foursome of Trevor Carroll, David Boland, Matthias Lindenbauer, and Grigory Tarasevich set a meet record with a finish of 1:18.55, which was .06 seconds off a NCAA B-cut standard.
Lucy Kramer led the field in the 200 IM finals by finishing in 2:06.35. On the men's side, Jonathan Zoucha edged teammate Grigory Tarasevich by touching the wall in 1:47.06, which was a NCAA B-cut standard. Tarasevich also notched a NCAA B-cut as he finished in 1:47.60 while Ryan Massey finished closely behind at 1:49.8.
In the 500 freestyle, freshman Emily Moser won in 4:49.52 with Devon Bibault touching second in 5:01.70. Jake Schultz shaved three seconds off his preliminaries time with a first-place finish and a NCAA B-cut time of 4:24.06. Nolan Smith finished in second in 4:27.10 while freshman Zach Harting finished third in a time of 4:28.01 and Ruben Izarra took fourth in 4:29.72.
Maggie Patterson led the field in the 100 breaststroke with a finish of 1:03.28 with freshman Manuela Sampaio touching second in 1:04.02. Caitlin Ahern took third in 1:04.51 followed by Emily Sarratt in 1:04.89 and Lauren James in 1:04.94.
Three Cardinal men notched NCAA B-cuts with Carlos Claverie leading the field in the 100 breaststroke with a finish in 53.36. Brennen Berger finished second in 54.57 while Dexter Thomas finished in third in 55.00 seconds. Josh Quallen finished in 55.91 and Todd Owen swam a 56.79 to round out the Cards swimmers.
In the 200 backstroke, Hannah Magnuson finished first with a NCAA B-cut time of 1:57.2, which was also a meet record. On the men's side, Aaron Greene led the field in 1:42.40 for a NCAA B-cut time. Nick Hasemann touched second in 1:45.85 garnering a NCAA B-cut standard while Jacob DeMercurio touched third in 1:47.57.
In a competitive 100 free, Alex Sellers led the field in the 100 free with a meet record time of 50.33. Grace Long finished in 50.58 while Alina Kendzior touched third in 50.78. Matthias Lindenbauer held off led a plethora of swimmers to win the 100 freestyle with a NCAA B-cut time of 43.70. Tarasevich finished in 43.73 while Trevor Carroll finished in 44.02 and Max Grodecki finished in 44.05, all three swimmers earning NCAA B-cut standards.
In the 200 fly, Marah Pugh touched first with a NCAA B-cut of 1:58.22 while Paige Ezell took second in 2:07.21. On the men's side, David Boland edged out Ryan Massey with a new meet record time of 1:47.22 for a NCAA B-cut. Massey also recorded a B-cut time of 1:47.76.
In 1m diving, freshman Daniel Fecteau scored 328.20 points which was a personal best to lead the field. Freshman Troy Holder scored 248.35 points which was also a personal best. Holder led the field in the 3m event with 278.78 points. Andrea Acquista led the field on the 3-meter with 312.53 points with Mady Ingmire finishing second with 287.26 points.
The meet concludes on Sunday morning with preliminaries at 10 a.m. and finals taking place at 5 p.m. inside the Ralph Wright Natatorium.Â
