Sophomore: Did not compete in the collegiate season for the Cardinals. He competed in the Atlanta Arena Pro Swim Series, placing 25th in the 200-meter back (2:08.12), while also swimming the 50-meter free, 100-meter free, 100-meter fly, and 100-meter back.
Freshman: DeMercurio showed steady improvement in his freshman campaign, swimming both sprint free and the backstroke for the Cardinals. He finaled at the Arena Pro Series in Indy in the 200-meter back, finishing 20th with a time of 2:09.12. In Charlotte, he swam in the finals of the 50-meter back with an 18th place time of 26.95. He was effective in the 200-breast in the dual meet season, where he scored against Cincinnati and at the UofL Invitational. He was a qualifier for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
Prep: Jacob DeMercurio joins the Cards from Frisco, Texas where he swam for Wakeland with Melissa Howard. He also swam for Texas Ford Aquatics for Coach Dan McDonough. The Madisonville, Kentucky native returns to his home state after his family relocated during his senior year. A product of the Madisonville YMCA under Coach Kent Waide, and Coach Dan McDonough of Texas Ford Aquatics, DeMercurio has won multiple Kentucky State Swimming Championships, and qualified for the USA Swimming Junior Nationals. He is a five time regional champion and two time state champion. A two-time Academic All-American, Demercurio carries a 4.0 GPA and is a member of the National Beta Club. His best times are 21.24 in the 50 free and 50.87 in the 100 back.
