No. 12/8 Cards Complete First Match of Inaugural College Swim League

Louisville finished second with 451.5 points
WESTMONT, Ill. – The No. 12/8-ranked University of Louisville men's and women's swimming teams took second place in the first match of the inaugural College Swim League on Thursday evening in Westmont, Ill.
The Cards earned 451.5 points and won five individual events and two relay events. Indiana won the match with 575.5 points, while Michigan took third (420.5) and Ohio State finished fourth (250.5).
Sophomore sprinter Nikita Sheremet led the way for the UofL men, starting his night by leading off the 50-yard freestyle relay with an electric 19-second first leg, helping Aiden Musso (19.32), Aidan Kaplan (19.41) and Rian Graham (19.22) win with a 1:16.95. He followed the dominant performance with a win in the 50-yard freestyle skins by going under 21 seconds in all four races. He added to his stellar night with a win in the 50-yard freestyle, posting a 19.47 and winning by more than half a second. Sheremet capped his night anchoring the 50-yard medley relay super skins, helping Filip Kosinski, Finnley Conklin and Graham win with a 1:28.71. Graham rounded out the Louisville men with a win in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking a 45.72.
Anastasia Gorbenko powered the Cardinal women, winning the 200-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard IM. Gorbenko earned the first victory of the night for UofL, winning the 200-yard breaststroke by almost four seconds with a 2:06.32. Eight events later, she followed with a win in the 100-yard IM, turning in a 52.11 to help boost the Louisville women.
