No. 12/8 Cardinals Set for Second Match of College Swimming League

Louisville currently sits at No. 6 in the CSL rankings
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 12/8-ranked University of Louisville men's and women swim teams head to the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn., to compete in their second match of the College Swimming League on Friday, Oct. 9. Action is set for 6:30 p.m. ET and the meet will be streamed on ESPN+. Live results will be available on the Meet Mobile App.
In Friday's match, the Cards will take on No. 10/1 Virginia, No. 5/4 Tennessee and No. 8/6 Michigan. UofL currently stands at No. 6 in the CSL rankings with three league points and 451.50 match points. Virginia ranks No. 1 with four league points and 666 match points, while Michigan sits at No. 8 with two league points and 420.50 match points. TEAM NOTES
- The Cardinals are coming off a dominant outing against Xavier on Friday, Oct. 2, with the men winning 189.50-70.50 and the women prevailing 188-69. The stellar performance marked the sixth straight year the Cards have opened their dual meet season with a sweep against the Musketeers.
- Louisville opened its season at the first match of the inaugural College Swimming League on Thursday, Sept. 24. UofL won five individual events and two relay events to earn second place with 451.50 points.
- The Cards head into the meet with both teams ranked in the top 15 of the CSCAA Poll. The women stand at No. 8, and the men sit at No. 12.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Caroline Larsen showed out in the first two meets of the season, earning a Ralph Wright Natatorium pool record and posting a pair of top 10 times in school history. Against Xavier, her leadoff 100 free leg of 47.13 in the women's 400 free relay broke Kelsi Worrel's previous pool record of 48.00 set back in 2017. The junior also clocked a 24.49 in the 50 back against the Musketeers, the eighth fastest time in program history. In the first match of the CSL, Larsen recorded a 21.54 in the 50 free to rank No. 5 in school history.
- Anastasia Gorbenko continued her excellent start to the season, securing a Ralph Wright Natatorium pool record and top 5 time in program history against the Musketeers. Gorbenko notched a 51.79 in the 100 back, claiming a pool record and the fifth fastest time in school history.
- Gregg Enoch led the charge for the Cardinal men against Xavier with two individual victories. The junior started his night with a win in the 200 fly, turning in a 1:45.69. He capped his performance with a victory in the 200 IM, notching a 1:48.79.
