Bio
Junior: Alex Sellers has developed into a reliable scorer for the Cardinal freestylers, with a a particular talent in relays. At NCAAs, she helped the Cardinals in the 400-free relay (3:13.21) with an anchor split of 49.24. She scored 16 points at the ACCs. She was a finalists in the 200-IM, where she was third in the B-final with a 1:59.63. She helped the 400-free relay team to a fourth place finish (3:15.59) with an anchor split of 49.18. In the dual meet season, highlights include a 23.97 in the 50-free at the UofL Invitational. In the 100-free, she put up a 52.86 versus Kentucky, and a 51.01 at the UofL Invitational. She also put in solid work primarily as anchor on the B-relays for the Cards. At the Arena Pro Series in Indy, she was a finalist in the 200-meter free (2:03.33), and the 50-meter free (26.44) both good for 21st place. She was a finalist in the 200-meter IM finishing 15th with a 2:21.90) and the 100-meter free (58.27) for 16th. An outstanding student, she was named to the All-ACC Academic squad.
Sophomore: In her sophomore campaign, Alex participated in freestyle events and was a key contributor in providing depth for the relay squads. Sellers helped the 200 freestyle relay team earn an A-cut time of 1:29.31 at the Louisville Invitational. Sellers was a member of the 400 freestyle relay squad that took first place against Xavier with a time of 3:26.76. She helped the “A” 400 freestyle relay squad pick up a win over archrival Kentucky with a time of 3:20.74, splitting 51.28. Sellers won the B-final at the Louisville Invite with a season-best time of 23.41 in the 50 free. She recorded her season best time in the 100 free of 52.40 in a dual meet against Auburn and Tennessee. Also in the dual season, she was third in the 50-free versus Xavier. AT the Michigan Quad she was on the fourth place 200-free relay team with an anchor of 23.79. Her best finish at the ACC Championship was a 27th in the 200-free with her 1:50.24. She competed at the Arena Pro Series in Charlotte where she competed in the sprint free events.
Freshman: Alexandra was the third freshman to be on the NCAA Championships team, which is the most along with three seniors on Louisville’s team. She was selected to help with the relay events.
Prep: Alexandra Sellers came to UofL from Flower Mound, Texas where she attended Flower Mound High School. Sellers competed for Lakeside Aquatic Club where she was a two time Texas Age Group Champion in the 100- freestyle and champion in the 50- and 200- freestyle. At the Speedo Championship Series, Sellers was fourth in the 100-freestyle, and 5th in the 200- IM. She was also named a two time Scholastic All- American.
Personal: Daughter of Shelly and Jerri Sellers. Born June 2, 1995. Major is bioengineering.
