
No. 9/12 Cardinals Hold Nine Top Seeds for Day 2 Finals of Purdue Invitational

Louisville qualifies 42 swimmers back for finals.
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 9/12 University of Louisville men's and women's swim team has nine top seeds and 42 swimmers back for finals on the second day of the Purdue Invitational at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.

Heading into the second day of competition, the Cardinal women lead the team race with 323.5 points ahead of Purdue (172). The men also sit in first with a score of 264 ahead of the Boilermakers (201).

The women's 400 individual medley A-final will be full of Cardinals as Sophie Cattermole (4:14.38), Carley Lowe (4:16.64), Abby Hay (4:17.70), and Maria Sumida (4:18.42) hold the top four spots. Maggie Jahns (4:20.11) will also compete in the A-final.

Daniel Sos will swim in the middle lane tonight in the men's 400 individual medley final after posting the fastest time this morning in 3:46.59. Jarrett Jones (3:51.83) and T.C. Smith (3:57.71) will also swim in the A-final while Hayden Curley (3:58.41) will compete in the consolation heat.

Grace Oglesby (51.84) is the women's 100 butterfly top qualifier, followed by Nastja Govejsek (52.86) with the second seed and Alena Kraus (53.59) with the third-fastest qualifying time. Christiana Regenauer (54.82) and Kelly Tichenor (55.99) will swim in the B-final.

Nicolas Albiero gives Louisville yet another top seed in the men's 100 butterfly after stopping the clock in 46.95 during prelims. Greyson Alarcon (48.05) and Mitchell Whyte (48.42) will also race in the championship heat while Nikkos Sofianidis (48.58) will see action in the consolation final.

Four Cardinals will compete in the women's 200 freestyle A-final, led by top-seed Arina Openysheva (1:47.44). Diana Dunn (1:48.19), Kraus (1:48.40), and Katie Schorr (1:49.41) round out the top eight as Casey Fanz (1:49.95), Maddie Luther (1:50.71), and Regenauer (1:52.12) will race in the B-final.

Bartosz Piszczorowicz leads the way in the men's 200 freestyle as the top seed in 1:34.86, followed by Colton Paulson (1:35.85), Michael Eastman (1:36.23), and Sam Steele (1:37.87). Kyle Worrell (1:38.75) will compete in tonight's consolation final.

Aaron Parrott (54.31) and Sasha Palazzo (54.73) also qualified for the A-final and Griffin Manning (55.61) will race in the B-final.
