Bio
Sophomore: Manning continued to add valuable depth to the Cardinals’ breaststroke group as a sophomore. At the Purdue Invitational, Manning finished 10th in the 100 breaststroke (55.06) and 13th in the 200 breaststroke (2:01.55). He also placed seventh in the 100 breaststroke (59.91) and eighth in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.17) in the dual meet against Notre Dame.
Freshman: In his debut season as a Cardinal, Manning added depth to the Cardinals’ breaststroke group and set a number of personal best times throughout the season. At the Boiler-Make-It Invitational, Manning won the 200 breast with a time of 2:01.05, while finishing second in the 100 breast in a time of 56.08 at the Louisville First Chance Invitational. At the IU Invitational, Manning recorded a pair of top-16 finishes in the breaststroke events, including a 14th place in the 200 breast (2:02.06) and a 15th place in the 100 breast (55.96). In the dual meet season, he earned points for Louisville in the win over Xavier with a fifth place finish in the 100 breast.
Prep: Manning joins the Cardinals from West Chester, Ohio, where he competed for Lakota West High School under coaches Dennis Beck and Dick Hamilton. At the 2018 OHSAA Division I State Championships, Manning finished sixth in the 100 breast and helped Lakota West to an 11th place finish in the 200 medley relay. He is also a four-time school record holder, two-time team captain and three-time MVP for Lakota West. Under coaches Ken Heis and Artharva Deshmukh, Manning helped the Mason Manta Rays become four-time Junior National champions. He also was a relay champion at the 2018 ISCA Junior National Cup. At the most recent Junior National Championships in Irvine, Calif., Manning competed in the 100-meter breast and 200-meter breast. He holds best times of 55.27 in the 100 breast and 2:03.73 in the 200 breast.
