Senior: After a strong junior campaign for the Cardinals, Underdahl continued to be a key contributor as a senior. She won the 200 backstroke (1:56.69) at the UofL First Chance Invitational where she also finished second in the 100 backstroke (54.77). At the Purdue Invitational, she raced to third in the 200 backstroke (1:56.79), sixth in the 100 backstroke (54.83), and 18th in the 200 individual medley (2:02.92). Underdahl picked up 10 top-five finishes throughout the dual meet season, highlighted by a pair of runner-up showings in the 200 backstroke against Indiana (2:00.86) and Xavier (2:03.03). For her performances in both the pool and in the classroom, Underdahl was named to the ACC Honor Roll.

Junior: Returning to the Cards’ lineup in her junior season, Underdahl tallied a number of solid performances. At the Indiana Invitational, she finished 11th in the 100 back with a personal best time of 54.36, while also taking ninth overall in the 200 back with a time of 1:55.62. At the Louisville First Chance Invitational, she won both the 100 and 200 back. She scored in three of the Cards’ dual meets throughout the course of the season, including a fourth place finish in the 200 back in the victory over Northwestern. At the Phillips 66 National Championships, Underdahl competed in the 100m back (1:03.73) and the 200m back (2:17.49).

Sophomore: Did not compete in 2017-18.

Freshman: Sofie’s versatility was a major asset to the Cardinals’ throughout her freshman season. At the ACC Championships, she scored 21 points, placing 11th in the 200 back (1:56.47), 400 IM (4:17.02), and 26th in the 200 IM (2:00.85). She also joined the Cardinal contingent at the World Championships Trials in Indy, swimming the 50-meter backstroke (29.87), 100-meter backstroke (1:03.57), and 200-meter backstroke (2:16.16). At the Arena Pro Swim Series in Atlanta, Sofie swam a jam-packed schedule, placing 11th in the 100-meter back (1:03.76), 11th in the 200-meter back (2:16.19), 23rd in the 400-meter IM (5:03.52), 26th in the 200-meter breast (2:37.67), and also swimming the 200-meter IM (2:21.84). At the UofL Invitational, she finished in the top-six in all of her events, including taking second in the 200 back in a time of 1:56.88. She also took third in the 400 IM (4:16.29), fourth in the 200 IM (2:01.97), and sixth in the 200 breast (2:17.80). Other highlights include three third places finishes in the victory over UNC in the 100 back, 200 back, and 400 IM.

Prep: Sofie Underdahl will head east to the Ville from Allen, Tex. where she attends Allen High School and competes for Texas Ford Aquatics. She is an Olympic Trials qualifier in the 200 Breast, a Texas 6A All-State First and Second Team selection and the 2015 District Swimmer of the Meet. Underdahl is the captain of the AHS swim team for the second consecutive year and is 2014-15 Scholastic All-American. Her best time in the 100-meter breaststroke is 2:34.87 (LCM), with a best of 2:00.76 in the 200-back and a 55.89 in the 100-back.
