Senior: Friesen picked up right where she left off during her senior campaign with the Cardinals, qualifying for the NCAA Championships for the fourth-straight year. At NCAAs, she finished 27th in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.76) and 34th in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.32). At the ACC Championships, she placed 10th in the 200 breaststroke (2:10.00), 12th in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.76), and 36th in the 200 individual medley (2:02.82). Friesen swept both breaststroke events in the dual meet against Cincinnati and was the runner-up in those events versus Kentucky. She also won the 200 breaststroke and took second in the 100 breaststroke against Notre Dame. Friesen also competed at the Toyota U.S. Open, finishing 26th in the 200m breaststroke and 27th in the 100m breaststroke.
Junior: Friesen continued to solidify herself as one of the Cardinals’ best breaststrokers, qualifying individually for the NCAA Championships in the 100 and 200 breaststroke before the meet was cancelled. At the ACC Championships, she scored big points for UofL after placing sixth in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.24) and seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.12). She raced to 16th place in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:32.48) at the Toyota U.S. Open after earning the runner-up spot in both the 100 breaststroke (1:00.40) and 200 breaststroke (2:11.39) at the Purdue Invitational. During the dual meet season, Friesen registered 16 top-4 finishes and won events against Tennessee, Xavier, Notre Dame, and Kentucky. For her performances in both the pool and in the classroom, Friesen was named to the All-ACC Academic Team and awarded ACC Honor Roll and CSCAA Scholar All-America honors. She was also named to the CSCAA All-American team in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke.
Freshman: Friesen provided immediate depth to the Cardinals’ breaststroke squad in her debut season, qualifying for NCAAs in both the 100 and 200 distances. At the NCAA Championships, she took 18th in the 200 breast (2:09.22) and 38th in the 100 breast (1:00.90). Friesen qualified for two championship finals at the ACC Championships, taking sixth in the 100 breast (1:00.56) and fifth in the 200 breast (2:10.31). She was also a member of the Cardinals’ gold medal winning 400 medley relay (3:30.66). At the Winter National Championships, her best showing was in the 200 breast with a sixth place finish in a time of 2:11.00. At the Phillips 66 National Championships, she competed in the 50-meter, 100-meter and 200-meter breast. In the dual meet season, Friesen had a strong performance against Tennessee, touching first in the 100 breast and taking second in the 200 breast. For her performances both in the pool and in the classroom, Friesen was named to the All-ACC Academic Team and earned CSCAA Scholar All-America honors.
Prep: Friesen comes to the University of Louisville from Windsor, Colorado, where she swam for Loveland Swim Club under the direction of head coach Jim Nickell. She competed at the 2016 Olympic Trials in the 100 and 200 breast and owns the team records in both breaststroke distances. She was also named the Most Outstanding Female Swimmer for Loveland Swim Club. Morgan swam for Windsor High School, where she was a six-time 4A Colorado State Champion. Additionally, she is the Colorado state record-holder in the 100 breast and won the 2017 Swimmer of the Year. She has earned All-American honors, as well as All-State First Team honors. She has best times of 1:01.35 in the 100 breast, 2:11.73 in the 200 breast, 2:01.78 in the 200 IM, and 4:18.71 in the 400 IM.
