Bio
Junior: Worrell continued to make a splash during his junior season with the Cardinals. He earned a spot on UofL’s NCAA Championship squad as a relay alternate, anchoring the 800 freestyle relay in 1:34.93 that finished eighth overall to earn All-American honors. At the ACC Championships, he placed 17th in the 100 freestyle (43.35), 21st in the 200 freestyle (1:36.34), and 34th in the 50 freestyle (20.16). Worrell also posted five top-6 finishes throughout the abbreviated dual meet season, highlighted by a third-place showing in the 200 backstroke against Cincinnati. He raced to sixth in both the 200 backstroke and 200 freestyle versus Notre Dame while taking fifth and sixth, respectively, in those events against Kentucky. For his efforts in the classroom, Worrell was named to the All-ACC Academic Team.
Sophomore: Worrell continued providing the Cardinals with valuable depth during his sophomore season. He placed second in both the 100 freestyle (43.85) and 200 freestyle (1:37.12) at the UofL First Chance Invitational before going on to take second in the former event (44.72) at the NCAA Last Chance Meet. At the Purdue Invitational, he finished 10th in the 200 freestyle (1:38.05), 19th in the 100 freestyle (45.11), and 22nd in the 500 freestyle (4:33.64). Worrell competed in six dual meets for the Cardinals, finishing eighth in the 100 freestyle (46.41) against Kentucky. For his performances in both the pool and in the classroom, Worrell was awarded ACC Honor Roll honors.
Freshman: Worrell set personal best times in the 50, 100 and 200 free in his first season as a Cardinal. At the Boiler-Make-It Invitational, he recorded a best time in the 100 free (44.65), while also adding best times in the 50 free (20.61) and 200 free (1:37.29). At the Indiana Invitational, he competed in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free and 100 fly with a season best time of 49.74 in the 100 fly.
Prep: Coming to Louisville from Westampton, N.J., Worrell will add a great deal of versatility to the Cardinals’ roster. He competed for Rancocas Valley Regional High School under head coach Dave Haggerty, where he finished sixth in both the 50 and 100 free at the 2018 NJSIAA Swim Meet of Champions. He swam year-round for the YMCA of Burlington & Camden County and coach Chris Brookover, where he placed sixth in the 100 free and 100 fly at the 2017 Short Course YMCA Nationals.
