Cardinals Complete Competition at Louisville Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- During the finals of Day 2 of the Louisville Invitational, swimmers from Louisville, Kentucky and Vanderbilt vied for the final spots on their respective conference championships squad Friday at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.

In 1-meter diving, Sammantha Helmboldt scored a meet record 280.80 and Maud Van Kampen took top honors on the 3-meter board, posting a mark of 271.88. On platform, Samantha Keith turned in a 280.35 for the win with Audree Brazeau-Howes putting up a 222.53 for second. For the men, Rayce Winn had the highest score on platform with a 290.10 and Mack Molloy put up a 266.55. UK's Tyler Bobadilla won the 3-meter board with a score of 318.30 and UofL's Colin Kruer put up a 302.79 to win the 1-meter.

Louisville freshman Owen Stevens turned in a 3:49.12 for the win in the 400 IM.

Ethan Chauliaguet set a meet record when he threw down a 19.56 in the 50 free. Rob Ehrenborg was second with a 20.34. Abby Karl was into the wall first in the women's 50 free with a 22.90

Drew Collins won the 100 backstroke with a 47.62, with Nate Thomas touching in 47.89.

In the 200 breaststroke, Ryder Hicks trimmed almost a second off his prelim time when he put up a 1:55.75 for the win.

Karoline Barrett won the 100 butterfly when she boarded a 53.77 with freshman Sophia Rodriguez touching second in 54.04.

In the 200 freestyle, Filip Kosinski put up a 1:37.79 for the win. On the women's side, Amelia Bodenstab won her 200 free with a 1:47.43, almost two full seconds.

In the 200 freestyle, Caroline Larsen turned in a 1:46.6 for the win. Amelia Bodenstab was second in 1:49.51 and Sadie Murphy went 2:03.26 for the Cardinals. In the men's 200 free, Matias Santiso led the Cardinal sweep with a 1:35.82. Thomas Powers-Hammond was second (1:37.41) and Filip Kosinski was third in 1:39.17.

The 200 medley relay team of Rian Graham (21.57), Finnley Conklin (24.00), Aiden Musso (20.02) and Nikita Sheremet (1:24.41) set a meet record with a 1:24.41.
