Cards Complete First Day Prelims of First Chance Meet

The No. 10/19 University of Louisville men's and women's had a busy first day of competition at the Louisville First Chance Invitational Friday morning at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.

In the 200 Free Relay, the Louisville A-relay took top honors with Tanner Cummings (20.20), Andrej Barna (19.25), Mihalis Deliyiannis (18.99) and Caleb Duncan (19.21) put up a 1:17.47 for a meet and pool record.

In the women's 200 IM, Abby Hay won with a 1:59.13. Grace Oglesby was just .05 behind in 1:59.18. Mariia Astashkina was third in 2:00.42 and Diana Dunn was fourth in 2:01.40.   In the men's 200 IM, Grey Alarcon took top honors with a 1:48.29, teammate Chase Sellers was second with 1:48.54.

Arina Openyshever won the 500 free, posting a time of 4:45.55 just ahead of Sophie Cattermole's 4:56.58 and Maddie Luther's 4:58.48. Graham Barrett was into the wall first with a 4:22.47 in the men's event. Jarrett Jones was second in 4:23.24 and Sam Steele was third in 4:26.87. Colton Paulson stopped the clock in 4:27.86.

Morgan Friesen was into the wall first in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:01.16. For the men's Aaron Parrott was first in the men's event with a time of 54.28, just out-touching Sasha Palazzo's 54.34. Jeremiah Holmes had a 57.00.

In the women's 200  backstroke, Kyla Alexander took top honors with a 1:57.87, just edging teammate Sofie Underdahl's 1:58.32, and Maggie Jahns turned in a 2:02.30. In the men's event, Jack Wever stopped the clock in 1:44.02, ahead of Nikkos Sofianidis (1:45.04), Mitchell Whyte 1:45.24, Chase Sellers (1:49.25), and Greyson Alarcon (1:49.71)

Lainey Visscher turned in a 49.43 to win the 100 freestyle edging Nastja Govejsek's 49.87. Katie Schorr turned in a 50.86 and Avery Braunecker went 51.18. Andrej Barna won the men's race with a 43.36, out-touching teammate Tanner Cummings' 43.89 and Haridi Sameh's 44.12. Mihalis Deliyiannis stsopped the clock in 44.23, tying Kyle Worrell.Â

In the 200 fly, Maria Sumida won with a time of 2:00.30 with teammate Kelly Tichenor touching in 2:01.19. Â Tennessee's Patrick Townsend won the men's 200 fly, with a mark of 1:48.08. Neal Morsi went 1:50.90.
