Freshman: Holmes provided the Cardinals with valuable sprint freestyle depth as a freshman, finishing fourth in the 50 freestyle (20.65) and seventh in the 100 freestyle (45.93) at the UofL First Chance Invitational. Holmes scored points at dual meets against Xavier, Tennessee, and Notre Dame which was highlighted by a third-place finish in the 50 freestyle (21.70) in his Cardinal debut.
Prep: Holmes joins the Cardinals from Ashland, Kentucky, after competing for all four seasons at Paul G. Blazer High School. During his senior campaign, he placed third in the 100 free and fourth in the 50 free at the Kentucky State Championships. Swimming year-round with Ashland Area YMCA under coach Ryan Ferguson where he owns 18 club records, Holmes has raced at the YMCA National Championships the past three seasons and competed at the 2018 Junior East Championships. He owns best times of 20.66 in the 50 free and 45.86 in the 100 free.
