Cards win seven events
The University of Louisville mens and women's swimming and diving teams suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the University of North Carolina Tar Heels Saturday at Koury Natatorium. The Tar Heel men won 221-130, while the women beat the Cardinals 230-123.

"This was a much better session," UofL coach Arthur Albiero, said of the second day of completion in the two-day format. "I am proud of the way we came out today."

The Cards got wins from Grigory Tarasevich, Andrea Cottrell, Nolan Tesone and Kelsi Worrell, Rachael Bradford Feldman and Carlos Claverie.

Louisville won the 200 medley relay with a 1:39.95 put up by Alina Kendzior (25.70), Andrea Cottrell (27.99), Kelsi Worrell (23.15) and Andrea Kneppers (23.11). The men were second when Grigory Tarasevich (22.56), Carlos Claverie (24.71), Josh Quallen (21.41), and David Boland  (20.20) combined for a 1:28.88.

In the 1000-free, Marah Pugh was the top Cardinal finisher with a fourth place time of 10:23.79. The men's 1000-free, Jake Schultz took fifth with a time of 9:33.26 and freshman Zach Harting was sixth in 9:42.24.

In the 50-free, Mallory Comerford was third in 23.56 and fellow frosh Grace Long was fifth in 24.28. Trevor Carroll was third in the men's event with a 20.42 in a hotly contested heat. Matthias Lindenbauer was fourth in 20.67.

Alina Kendzior was second in the 100 back with a time of 54.56. Ashley LeClair was sixth in 57.81.
In the men's 100-back, Grigory Tarasevich was into the wall first with a 47.80 for the Cards. Teammate Aaron Greene was third in 49.25 and Max Grodecki was fourth in 50.32.

Andrea Cottrell dominated the 200-breast, finishing in 2:14.78, almost two seconds ahead of the field. Rachael Bradford Feldman was third in 2:16.36. In the men's event, Carlos Claverie took top honors in 1:59.98, as the only man under two minutes. Dexter Thomas as fifth, with a 2:06.10.

Kelsi Worrell won the 100-fly with a 52.62 and Hannah Magnuson was fifth in 56.91. Pedro Countinho was second in the men's event, boarding a 48.15 and David Bolad was fourth in 49.24.

Rachael Bradford Feldman notched a win in the 400-IM with a time of 4:16.52. Marah Pugh was fourth in 4:22.80. Nolan Tesone ran away with the men's 400-IM, finishing seven seconds ahead of the field with a 3:50.77. Carlos Claverie was third with a 3:59.19.

In the women's 1-meter diving, Andrea Acquista was third, posting a score of 268.88 just ahead of Mady Ingmire' 238.35 for fourth. Sean Piner was third for the men in the 1-meter diving with a 327.60. Freshman Daniel Fecteau was fourth, posting a 294.60.
