Bio
Junior: Josh Quallen is a mainstay on the butterfly squad as well as an IMer for the Cardinals. He qualified for the NCAAs last year as a relay swimmer where he helped the Cards to a fifth place finish in the 200-medley relay, splitting 20.20 enroute to a 1:24.08. He scored 65 points for the Cardinals at the ACC Championships. He helped UofL to the podium in the 200-medley relay team with a split of 20.51 for the silver medal time of 1:24.01. He was second in the B-finals in the 200-IM with a time of 1:45.39 and was fifth in the A-final of the 100-fly with a 46.80. He made another A-final with a 7th place finish in the 200-fly with a 1:45.79. In the dual season, he had nine top three finishes in both the 100- and 200-fly with a win in the 200-fly at the UofL Invitational. In the Arena Pro Series in Indy, he was a finalist in the 100-meter fly with a 6th place finish time of 54.40. He was also a finalist in the 200-meter IM, where he finished 14th with a 2:06.34 and finished 18th in the 200-meter fly with a 2:04.19. In Charlotte, he was in the finals of the 100-meter fly (54.89), the 200-meter fly (2:05.38) and was 11th in the 50-meter fly (24.61). He was an US Olympic Team Trial qualifier as well.
Sophomore: Josh Quallen was named to the All-ACC Academic squad, was All-ACC in five events and an All-American. He scored 68 points at the ACC Championship. He made the A-final in the 200-IM where he finished 7th in 1:45.20 and was also in the A-final in the 100-fly, where he finished seventh in the 100-fly in 46.52. His last A-final in the individual events was a seventh place finish in the 200-fly, going 1:45.26. At the NCAA Championships, he was a part of the fourth place 200 medley relay where he split 19.98. At the USA National Championships, he was a part of the 9th place 4x100-meter free relay, splitting the leadoff leg in 51.72 and was 10th in the 4x100 meter medley relay, splitting 52.72. At the USA Short Course Nationals, he was fifth in the 200-IM (1:45.48), sixth in the 100-fly (46.70) and fifth in the 200-fly (1:45.59). At the Arena Pro Series in Charlotte, he was 12th in the 50-meter fly in 24.45. Dual meet highlights include a 2nd place in the 200-IM (1:50.65) versus Florida State and a third in the 100-fly (48.69). He won the 200-back in 1:50.81 versus Cincinnati. He won the 100-fly versus rival Kentucky with a 48.50 and was third in the 100-fly against Ohio State and Indiana.
Freshman: Josh started off his first year with the Cardinals as an All-AAC selection when he finished first in the 200-butterfly with a time of 1:45.29 at the AAC Championships. He also added runner up finishes in the 200-IM and the 100-butterfly at the Championships. Against Tennessee, Quallen took first place in the 100 fly with 49.23 and the 200 fly with a time of 1:48.94
Prep: Josh Quallen joins the Cardinals from Wilmington, Ohio where he attended Wilmington High School. Quallen is an Ohio State High School Record Holder in the 100- butterfly and 100- backstroke, a four- time state champion, and was awarded swimmer of the meet in 2013. While swimming for the Dayton Raiders Swim Team, Quallen was an Olympic Trial Qualifier and a Junior National finalist in several events.
