Men move into second; Women are in third
COLUMBUS, Ohio – With the second day of competition concluding at the Ohio St. Invitational, the University of Louisville women's swimming and diving team remains in third place, with the men climbing to second place overall.

The Cardinals have totaled 1379.5 points on the women's side, trailing Indiana with 1479.5 and Ohio St with 1458.5. The men have earned 1490 total points, which is only behind Indiana's 1853.5.

The Cardinals came out of the gates hot to start the Day 2 finals by winning the Women's 200 medley relay with Abby Karl (24.05), Ella Welch (27.55), Gabi Albiero (22.98) and Julia Dennis (21.31) putting up an NCAA A-cut time of 1:35.89. The men's 200 medley relay was also won by Louisville. Yassin Abdelghany (21.39), Denis Petrashov (22.74), Dalton Lowe (19.75) and Guy Brooks (18.71) led the competition with an NCAA A-cut time of 1:22.59.Â

The first individual event of the night saw five Lady Cardinals take a top ten spot in the 100 butterfly. Ella Welch placed third with a time of 52.24, Gabi Albiero touched fourth at 52.29, Tristen Ulett took seventh with a 52.76. Karoline Barrett placed ninth with a 53.33, out touching tenth place Caroline Larsen who finished at 53.39. The event was won by IU's Miranda Grana who went a 51.10. On the men's side, Dalton Lowe earned fourth place with a time of 46.00. Aidan Paro (46.60) and Rian Graham (46.68) also cracked the top ten by finishing eighth and ninth. Yale's Nicholas Finch took first in the event with a 45.50.

In the women's 400 IM, Kim Herkle went a 4:11.24, which placed fourth in the event. Camden Doane also snuck into the top ten with a ninth place finish at 4:14.77. OSU's Mia Rankin took the top time with a 4:08.74. Gregg Enoch earned a podium finish on the men's side, taking third at a time of 3:41.96. Jackson Millard was right behind with a fourth place time of 3:43.02. The event was won by Tristan Jankovics (3:39.05) from OSU.

The 200 freestyle saw another Cardinal earn her spot on the podium. Daria Golovaty placed third at a time of 1:43.99. Summer Cardwell took sixth with a 1:45.41, and Fernanda Celidonio took eight with a 1:46.64. IU's Anna Peplowski went a time of 1:42.36 which won the event. The men's event was packed full of Cardinals. Murilo Sartori (1:31.87) finished second and Denis Loktev (1:33.01) finished fourth, both dropping time from their previous swims in the prelims. Matias Santiso (1:35.03), Guy Brooks (1:35.82), Kayden Lancanster (1:36.38), and Gustavo Saldo (1:37.56) filled out the top 10, finishing seventh, eight, night, and tenth. OSU's Tomas Navikonis took first place with a time of 1:31.55

Mia Cheatwood swam a time of 59.48, which earned her second place in the 100 breaststroke. Finishing only behind Cincinnati's Joleigh Crye (59.06) who took first place. Denis Petrashov took third place in the men's 100 breaststroke with a time of 51.19. IU's Brian Benzing won the event with a 51.03.

Two Lady Cardinals earned top ten spots in the 100 backstroke. Abby Karl placed sixth when she touched at a time of 52.82, and Camille Murray took eight with a time of 53.17. On the men's side, Dalton Lowe represented the Cards with a fourth place finish and touched at 45.96.

The night wrapped up with the 800 freestyle relay. Louisville's team of Summer Cardwell (1:46.49), Daria Golovaty (1:44.75), Tristen Ulett (1:46.23) and Fernanda Gomes Celidonio (1:45.96) tallied up a time of 7:03.43, which earned third place. The men's heat concluded with Denis Loktev, Murilo Sartori, Gregg Enoch and Guy Brooks teaming up to take second place.
