No. 9/7 Swimming and Diving Complete Day 3 Prelims at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Louisville's swimming and diving team completed the final set of prelims at the OSU Invitational on Saturday morning.

The early morning swims kicked off with the women's 200 backstroke. Louisville's Paige Hetrick touched second in the event with a time of 1:53.00. Rye Ulett also represents the Cards in the top 10 with a ninth place finish at 1:57.43. Camille Murray placed 17th with a 1:58.34, and Ally Boynton placed 24th with a 2:00.22. In the men's 200 backstroke, Filip Kosinski was the top qualifying Cardinal at sixth place with a 1:42.82. Jackson Millard also cracked the top ten with his time of 1:43.69 earning tenth overall. Drew Collins will swim in the B final as he took 12th place with a time of 1:44.07.

The Lady Cards filled the A final with five top ten finishes in the 100 freestyle. Julia Dennis was the top qualifier with a 48.43, out touching Gabi Albiero's second place finish at 48.56. Daria Golavaty (48.76), Lucy Mehraban (48.93) and Caroline Larsen (49.24) earned fourth, seventh and ninth place finishes. Ella Welch placed 12th with a 49.32, Karoline Barrett placed 16th with a 49.82. Abby Karl placed 17th with a 50.16, Avery Karl placed 24th with a 50.58 and Bianca Costea placed 29th with a 50.97. The men's side also saw a Cardinal finish as the top qualifier, as Guy Brooks finished first at a time of 42.40. Murilo Sartori earned third with a time of 42.89, and Matias Santiso will also swim in A-final with a seventh place finish at a time of 43.12. Dalton Lowe touched at 43.42 taking eleventh, and Charlie Crush touched at 44.08 taking 17th.

Mia Cheatwood was the second place qualifier in the 200 breaststroke as she finished with a time of 2:09.99. Kim Herkle will join her in the A-final as she finished fifth with a time of 2:11.99. Fernanda Gomes Celidonio went a 2:13.39, placing 11th. Maddie Hall went a 2:18.39, placing 29th. The Louisville men have two representatives in the top 10 of the 200 yd breaststroke. Jake Eccleston took sixth place at a time of 1:55.11 and Denis Petrashov took seventh place at a time of 1:55.25. Luke Shourds finished 15th with a 1:58.20, Tommy Bried finished 19th with a 1:59.04, and Grant Gooding finished 28th with a 2:02.44.

The morning wrapped up with the 200 butterfly. Camden Doane (1:58.12) and Tristen Ulett (1:58.86) both stamped top ten placements with fourth and eighth place finishes. In the men's event, the Cards swept the podium. Freshman Gregg Enoch was the top qualifier with a time of 1:43.39. Thomas Powers Hammond (1:44.22) and Aidan Paro (1:44.24) were close behind with second and third place finishes. Mateo Miceli (1:44.48) and Tommy Bried (1:44.57) also grabbed top ten finishes with fifth and seventh place finishes. Denis Loktev finished 11th with a time of 1:45.40, Rian Graham finished 14th with a time of 1:46.78, and Gustavo Saldo finished 21st with a time of 1:48.75.
