No. 9/7 Swimming and Diving Complete Day 2 Prelims at Ohio State Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 7/9-ranked Louisville swimming and diving team completed its second day of preliminaries Friday afternoon at the Ohio State Invitational.

In the 100 fly, Ella Welch qualified second with a time of 51.72, with Gabi Albiero (52.50) coming in fifth, just ahead of Tristen Ulett (52.55). Caroline Larsen (52.91) and Karoline Bennett (52.99) were eighth and ninth to round out the top ten for tonight's A-final. In the men's 100 fly, Dalton Lowe put up the second fastest time in prelims with a 45.70. Other Cards who made it to the A-final tonight are Yassin Abdelghany (46.30), Aidan Paro (46.32), and Rian Graham (46.34) who finished eighth through tenth respectively.

In the 400 IM, Kim Herkle (4:15.54) and Camden Doane (4:15.70) made the A-final, qualifying ninth and tenth. Louisville freshman Gregg Enoch turned in the second fastest time in prelims with a 3:43.22. Tommy Bried was third (3:44.26) and Jackson Millard was fourth (3:45.13) coming back for a second swim in the A-final tonight.

In the 200 freestyle, Louisville's Daria Golovaty qualified third with a time of 1:44.38. Teammate Summer Cardwell was fifth with a 1:45.77 and Fernanda Celidonio was 10th, posting a time of 1:46.76. For the men, Guy Brooks qualified second in prelims with a time of 1:31.96, with Denis Loktev touching third (1:33.53) and Murilo Sartori qualifying fourth, posting a 1:33.55. The Cards also had spots eight through ten, led by Matias Santiso (1:34.97) followed by Gustavo Saldo (1:35.50) and Kayden Lancaster (1:36.28).

In the 100 breaststroke, Louisville's Mia Cheatwood qualified second with a time of 59.84. For the Cardinal men in the same event, Denis Petrashov qualified fifth with a 52.50

In the 100 backstroke, Abby Karl turned in the 8th place qualifying time of 52.94. In the men's 100 back, Dalton Lowe was the Cardinals' top qualifier, with the sixth-place time of 46.34. Yassin Abdelghany was 8th, posting a 46.59.

In men's 3M diving, Louisville will send four to the finals tonight led by Che Stephens, who qualified fifth with a mark of 343.45. Ray Preas was sixth (342.85) and Mack Molloy and Noam Kulbak tied for 11th with the score of 317.10 to all return for the the finals. In women's 1M, Lindsay Gizzi was 18th with a score of 252.15 as the top scorer for the Cardinals.
