Cardinals Post Strong Swims at Day One Finals of Louisville Invite

Cards posted four NCAA ‘B’ cuts during day one finals.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The No. 10/19 University of Louisville men's and women's swim team had a strong first full day of competition at the Louisville First Chance Invitational on Friday evening at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.
In the men's 500 freestyle finals, Cardinal Colton Paulson posted a meet record with a 4:21.54 for an NCAA 'B' standard. His teammate, Graham Barrett, finished second with a time of 4:25.86.
Sofie Underdahl set a new meet record with a final time of 1:56.69 in the women's 200 backstroke, fast enough for an NCAA 'B' standard. Kyla Alexander touched the wall second in 1:57.52 while Maggie Jahns touched fourth in 2:02.72.
Jack Wever won the men's 200 backstroke in 1:43.72 for an NCAA 'B' standard of his own. Neal Morsi (1:46.32) and Greyson Alarcon (1:46.64) finished second and third, respectively, to make it a Cardinal sweep.
It was a Cardinal-filled final in the men's 100 freestyle with Tanner Cummings taking the top spot in an NCAA 'B' worthy time of 43.52. He was followed by teammates Kyle Worrell (43.85) in second, Santiago Aguilera (44.12) in third, Caleb Duncan (44.91) in fourth, Derek Sander (45.42) in sixth, and Jeremiah Holmes (45.93) in seventh.
In the men's 100 breaststroke finals, Aaron Parrott was second after getting his hands to the wall in 54.36. Katie Schoor won the women's 100 freestyle in 50.45 while Kelly Tichenor stopped the clock in 2:00.67 for a first-place finish in the women's 200 butterfly.
Prelims for the second day of the Louisville Invitational will begin at 10 a.m.
