Swimming Completes Day 2 Finals at Cardinal First Chance

Cards make three more B-cuts.
The University of Louisville men's and women's swimming teams had three more NCAA B-cuts in the final session of the Cardinal First Chance Invitational Sunday evening at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.

In the men's 200-medley relay, the foursome of Ryan Massey (22.43), Clayton Helsley (25.65), Zach Harting (21.08) and Matyi Kovacs (19.86) combined for a 1:29.02.

In the 200-freestyle, Grace Long put up a 1:49.21.

Ruben Izarra hit an NCAA B-cut of 1:37.34 in the 200-freestyle. Jake Schultz and Max Grodecki tied for second in 1:39.24. Nolan Smith went 1:40.37 and Nate Bond went 1:45.00.

In the women's 100-fly, Paige Ezell had the best time of 59.72.

Zach Harting made an NCAA B-cut with a 47.76 in the 100-fly. Aaron Green was second, boarding a 48.39.

In the men's 200-breast Brennan Berger went 1:58.66 for an NCAA B-cut. Todd Owen was second in 2:00.07 and Dexter Thomas went 2:00.17.

In the men's 100-back Nick Hasemann posted a time of 48.08, followed by Christian Garkani's 48.60. Jacob DeMercurio went 48.77.

In the women's 50-free, Grace Long led the field with a 23.43, followed by Maggie Patterson's 23.65 and Clara Baggett's 24.17.

In the men's 50-free, Max Grodecki led the field with a 20.73. Matyi Kovacs was second in 20,.77 and Jacob DeMercurio was third in 21.00. Clayton Helsley went 21.12.

Paige Ezell went 1:09.93 in the 100-breaststroke time trial. Ruben Izarra went 45.40 in the 100-freestyle time time trial. In a 200-IM time trial, Christian Garkani went 1:50.38.
