Junior: Christian Garkani has added depth in the freestyle and backstroke for the Cardinals, swimming the 50, 100 and 200-free throughout the dual season. He qualified for the NCAAs last year as a relay swimmer. A season highlight came against Tennessee when he posted a 1:42.89 in the 200-free. Always in the mix in the backstroke events, he had a 50.42 in the 100-back against regional power Indiana. At the Arena Pro Series in Indy, he finalled in the 50-meter freestyle with a 23.58 and was a finalist in the 100-meter freestyle with a 52.27. In Charlotte, he was in the finals of the 500-meter back, with a 26.90 for 27th. At the US Open in August, he was on the second place 4x100 meter free relay team that posted a 3:23.01, with an anchor of 51.31. He also was in the finals of the 100-meter back with a 57.30 for 14th place. He qualified for the US Olympic Team Trials.

Sophomore: Christian continued to contribute to the freestyle events and helped out in relay events as well. Christian posted his best finish with a second place finish in the 100 free against Cincinnati with a time of 47.43. His season-best times came at the Louisville Invitational where he swam 45.89 in the 100 free and 49.49 in the 100 back. He swam his best time of the season with a mark of 1:43.46 in the 200 free against UNC. He swam at the Arena Pro Series at Charlotte, he finalled in the 50-meter back, finishing 28th in 27.22.

Freshman: Christian contributed to the freestyle events, specifically the 100- and 200-freestyle races. He helped out in several of the relay events throughout the season, as well. His season-best times for each came at the Michigan Invite, where in the 100-free it was 46.13 and 1:40.97 in the 200-free. At the AAC Championships, Christian competed as an exhibition swimmer. He swam the 100-free in 46.47, dropped his time in the 200-free, going 1:40.40, and went 1:51.60 in the 200-IM.

Prep: Christian Garkani hails from Newport Beach, California where he attended Corona Del Mar High School and swam for Aquazot Swim Club. In 2012 Garkani was a CIF 200- freestyle runner- up, 200- Medley Relay Record Holder, and an All- American. Garkani won the CIF 200- freestyle in 2013, which earned him another All- American title, and a Chamber of Commerce Top 10 Athlete award.
