
Petrashov Wins Gold On Day 4 at ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- After the fourth day of competition at the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, the University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving team are in fifth and third place respectively Friday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The men have scored 647.5 points and trail only California (885.5), Stanford (822), North Carolina (741) and NC State (676). The women have amassed 682 points and trail only Virginia (1040.5) and Stanford (852).

In the 200 butterfly, Tristen Ulett put up a 1:55.76 to finish fourth in the consolation final for the Louisville women. For the men, Tommy Bried won the B-final with a 1:41.93 for a lifetime best and fifth fastest time in Cardinal history. Also in the B-final was Aidan Paro, who went 1:43.14 and Mateo Miceli, who boarded a 1:43.47. In the C-final, freshman Gregg Enoch was third, going 1:43.19 with Thomas Powers-Hammond right in his wake for fifth and a time of 1:43.68. Senior Gus Saldo turned in a 1:44.48 to touch sixth.

In the men's 100 backstroke, Louisville had three swimmers in the C-final led by Dalton Lowe's 45.78 which placed him second. Rian Graham was fifth, posting a 46.39 and Filip Kosinski boarded a 46.76.

 Mia Cheatwood tied for sixth in the championship final of the 100 breaststroke. Also scoring for the Ville was Caroline Larsen, who tied for first in the B-final with a time of 59.63.

Denis Petrashov won gold in the 100 breaststroke holding off top seeed Ron Polonsky of Stanford down the stretch and setting a meet and conference record in the event with his 50.62. It marks the first gold in this event for Louisville and is the fastest time in school history. Jake Eccleston won the B-final with a time of 51.49 and set a school record for freshmen. Luke Shourds scored in the C-final with a time of 52.81. Â

In the 400 medley relay, the foursome of Abby Karl (53.97), Mia Cheatwood (39.69), Ella Welch (50.54) and an anchor by Julia Dennis of 46.53 put the Cards into the wall in 3:30.73 for fifth place. Dennis made up three spots in the final leg after the Cards trailed in eighth after three legs. Virginia set an American and NCAA record with a 3:19.58 set by Claire Curzan, Alex Walsh, Gretchen Walsh and Annaliesa Moesch and end up atop the podium.
 The men's foursome of Dalton Lowe (45.96), Denis Petrashov Rian Graham and Matias Santiso turned in a 3:04.53 in the championship heat of the 400 medley relay to finish eighth. The Cards dropped .21 from their entry time. NC State's Quintin McCarty, Samuel Hoover, Lukas Miller and Jerry Fox won with a time of 3:01.62.
