Illinois, Kentucky and Cincinnati will be on deck to improve times
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The 14/9 University of Louisville men's and women's swimming teams are set to host University of Kentucky, the University of Illinois women and Cincinnati, at the Louisville First Chance Meet. The meet will be held on Feb. 15-16 at the Ralph Wright Natatorium with the prelims starting at 10 a.m. and the finals starting at 5 p.m.

The Cardinals are coming off a strong showing on Saturday, February 3, when they defeated the University of Cincinnati. The Cards swept the matchup, with the women winning 204-90 and the Cardinal men 205-88. UofL was led by a plethora of masterful performances in the individual events. First-place finishers for the Cards included Dalton Lowe (100 back and 100 fly), Murilo Sartori (200 and 500 free), Tommy Bried (200 fly and 400 IM), Guy Brooks (100 free), Gabi Albiero (50 free and 100 fly), Christiana Regenauer (100 free), Rye Ulett (100 back, 500 free, and 400 IM), and Lindsay Gizzi, who swept both boards in the diving events.

The Wildcats are looking to continue their excellence from Friday, February 2, when they swept the University of Cincinnati at home on Senior Day. UK women won by a score of 207-93, and the men 186-111. They were powered by 25 event wins on the day and had seven seniors post individual victories on the special occasion.

The Illinois women last competed on Saturday, January 27, when they lost at home to the Nebraska Cornhuskers 131-169. In the effort, the Fighting Illini found success in the individual events with first-place finishes from Sara Jass (200 IM and 200 breast), Sydney Stoll (200 free), Suvana Baskar (100 back), Logan Kuehne (50 free), Laurel Bludgen (100 free).

In their last head-to-head matchup, the UofL women and men swept UK by the score 210-90 and 209.5-88.5. The Cardinals last matchup against the Fighting Illini women occurred in 2005, with the Cards winning the battle 172-128.
