Cardinals Tie Program-Best 12 With Swimmers Selected for NCAA Championships

Cards will send all five relays as well
LOUISVILLE, Ky. --Â Following their third place finish at the ACC Championships, the University of Louisville women's swimming and diving team qualified 12 individual swimmers and two relay swimmers to the 2020 NCAA Championships, which will be held on March 18-21 at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.

The Cardinals tied the school record for participants set in 2018 with 12 and have the third most qualifiers in the nation.
 Looking to build on their program-best fourth place finish at last year's NCAA Championships, the Cardinals' 12 individual qualifiers are entered in a combined 10 races. In addition to the individual swims, Louisville has also qualified in all five relays.Â
Senior Grace Oglesby is a Cardinal to watch heading into the NCAA Championships. Oglesby won her third straight 200 butterfly title at ACCs and earned a bronze medal in the 100 fly and bronze in the 200 IM. She earned two more medals in the 200- and 400-medley relays. She will enter NCAAs as the eighth-seed in the 200 butterfly (1:53.70) and 12th in the 100 butterfly (51.59).

Sprinter Casey Fanz is also seeded in scoring position with the 15th-seed in the 50 free with a 21.89. Â She won bronze in the 100 free at ACCs and will be seeded 15th there as well.

Also seeded in scoring position will be 200 freestyler Arina Openysheva (10th), 100 breaststroker Kaylee Wheeler (12th), and 200 breaststroker Morgan Friesen (8th).

Three of the Cardinals' five relays are seeded in scoring position with the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and the 400 free relay teams ranking in the top eight, projecting to swim in the A-finals.
