Cardinals Wrap Up Competition at Toyota U.S. Open
ATLANTA, Ga. - Twenty-four members of the University of Louisville men's and women's swim team competed at the Toyota U.S. Open at the McCauley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga.

Hayden Curley was the Cardinals' top finisher in the men's 800m freestyle, clocking in at 8:04.20 for 13th place followed by Ilia Sibirtsev (8:07.36), Marcelo Acosta (8:07.94), and T.C. Smith (8:09.39). Curley and Smith both picked up the Olympic Trials standard in the event.

Curley raced to 11th place in the men's 400m freestyle with a time of 3:53.49, just ahead of Acosta (3:53.50) as Smith (3:55.56) and Sibirtsev (3:57.22) also finished in the top 30. Sibirtsev (1:53.20) swam in the finals of the 200m freestyle while Acosta (15:25.50), Curley (15:27.67), and Smith (15:31.51) placed in the top-20 of the 1500m freestyle.

Daniel Sos finished sixth overall in the men's 200m individual medley (2:00.18) and seventh in the 400m individual medley (4:21.68). Zach Harting (52.79) took 10th in the 100m butterfly and 11th in the 200m butterfly (1:59.39).

Carlos Claverie placed eighth in the 100m breaststroke in 1:00.85 while Evgenii Somov took ninth in 1:00.50. Claverie (2:11.71) also took seventh in the 200m breaststroke. Mihalis Deliyiannis finished 12th in the men's 50m freestyle in 22.48 while Haridi Sameh took 24th in 23.14.

Nikos Sofianidis powered home to ninth in the 100m backstroke in a time of 55.17 while Nicolas Albiero took 21st in 56.39. Sofianidis then placed 20th in the 200m backstroke in 2:03.22 and Bartosz Piszczorowicz placed 19th in the men's 100m freestyle in 50.09.

Kelsi Worrell Dahlia, who earned the silver medal in the women's 100m butterfly (57.96), also sprinted to fourth in the 50m freestyle in 25.00 while Casey Fanz took eighth in 25.27. Mallory Comerford took 17th in 25.52 while Christiana Regenauer (26.24) also raced again in finals.

Comerford then went on to finish 10th in the 200m freestyle in 1:59.10 followed by Alena Kraus (2:00.74) in 15th. Comerford (54.74) also led the Cardinal charge in the 100m freestyle, followed by Dahlia (55.42), Fanz (55.78), and Openysheva (55.91) who were all under the Olympic Trials standard.

Kraus finished 11th in 59.19 in the 100m butterfly ahead of Oglesby (59.51) who took 13th and Nastja Govejsek (1:00.13) who raced to 20th. Kraus (2:01.06.) also placed ninth in the 200m butterfly and Oglesby (2:13.60) flew to 14th.

Mariia Astashkina placed 13th in the 100m breaststroke in 1:09.23 and finished seventh in the 200m breaststroke with a final time of 2:29.05 ahead of Morgan Friesen, who finished 16th in 2:32.48. Abby Hay (2:19.26) raced to 22nd in the women's 200m individual medley after posting a time of 2:16.71 during prelims to achieve the Olympic Trials cut.
