
Cardinals Move Into 11th Place after Friday Finals at NCAA Championships

 ATLANTA – Nikita Sheremet set a school record in the finals of the 50 freestyle with a time of 18.65 set at the 2026 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech.

Sheremet broke his own record that he set at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships last month also at the McAuley. Florida's Josh Liendo put up an 18.06 for the win.Â

The Cardinals move to 11th in the team standings. Texas is in the lead in the team standings with 340.5 points followed by Florida (331), Indiana (254), Arizona State (245), Tennessee (199), Cal (186), NC State (175.5), Michigan (163), Virginia (110), Stanford (95), Louisville (72), Virginia Tech (67), Ohio State (63), Kentucky (52)/USC 52 and Georgia (50.5) to round out the top 15.Â

The Cardinals finished  15th in the 400 medley relay to earn Honorable Mention All-American honors.  In the timed final event, the Cards boarded a 3:02.83. Rian Graham led off the backstroke leg with a 45.96 split and turned the race over to breaststroker Jake Eccleston, who went 51.27  and improved to fourth place. Aiden Musso swam the fly leg with a split of 46.68 and handed over third place to anchor Nikita Sheremet, who split 40.92 and hit the wall in second place in their heat. Arizona State won the event with a time of 2:56.79.Â

ESPN+ will provide live digital coverage for preliminary and finals sessions Wednesday through Saturday. Tape-delayed coverage of the men's championships will be on ESPNU at 7 p.m. ET, Monday, March 30.Â

A total of 270 participants (235 swimmers and 35 divers) will compete in the championships. Swimmers qualified for the championships either by winning their conference championship in an event with an established minimum time in that swim or by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered. Divers were determined by performances achieved at the Zone C Diving Championships held Mar. 8-11 in Ypsilanti, Mich. Selected divers were announced Thursday, Mar. 12. The complete lists of all swimmers (athletes by institution, official psych sheet, relays, and alternates) competing in the championships is available at usaswimming.org/ncaa.

Tommy Bried, Guy Brooks, Jake Eccleston, Gregg Enoch, Jackson Millard, and Nikita Sheremet along with relay swimmers Finnley Conklin, Charlie Crush, Rian Graham, and Aiden Musso will represent the Cards down in Atlanta. Rayce Winn will compete in 1-meter diving, while Ray Preas will compete on the platform.
