No. 9/10 Swimming & Diving Set to Host No. 12/9 Indiana for Senior Day

Regional rivals face off Friday at 5 p.m. at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.
The University of Louisville No. 10 men's and No. 9 women's swimming and diving teams will return to the competition pool this weekend as they host No. 12w/9m Indiana for Senior Day on Friday evening at 5 p.m. in Ralph Wright Natatorium.
Before the meet, the Cardinals will honor the team's 12 seniors – Devon Bibault, Nate Bond, Pedro Coutinho, Bryan Draganosky, Mady Ingmire, Ruben Izarra, Andrea Kneppers, Lucy Kramer, Sean Piner, Nolan Tesone, Dexter Thomas, and Kelsi Worrell.
In their last time out, the Cardinals posted 15 NCAA B-cuts as they defeated their in-state rival, Kentucky, in the annual Battle of the Bluegrass meet. The men won 200-100 while the women were victorious 190-110.
Three Cardinals were named ACC Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week after their performances against Kentucky last weekend. Junior Trevor Carroll paced the Cardinals with three individual wins on the afternoon with victories in the 50 free, 200 free, and 500 free along with a victory in the 400 free relay. Junior Andrea Cottrell took part in both winning relays and added a sweep in both breaststroke events notching NCAA B-cut times in both events. Senior diver Sean Piner was victorious on the 1-meter with a total score of 367.58 and finished third on the 3-meter with a score of 310.50.
Also against the Wildcats, junior Grigory Tarasevich swept both backstroke events with two NCAA B-cut times and was on both relay wins. Sophomore Carlos Claverie swept both breaststroke events with two NCAA B-cut times and was on the winning 200-medley relay team.
For the women, senior Kelsi Worrell and freshman Mallory Comerford each won two individual events along with relay victories. Worrell posted two NCAA B-cut times as she won both the 100 free and her signature event, the 100 fly, and took part in both winning relays. Comerford won both the 50 free and 200 free along with the winning 400-free relay

Both Indiana swimming and diving squads are coming off a Senior Day victory in which they posted 21 individual victories and sweeping all four relay races against Purdue last weekend. The No. 9 men defeated the Boilermakers 187-107 while the No. 16 Hoosier women took down the No. 21 ranked Boilermakers 185.5-114.5. For the season, the women are 8-6 while the men are 7-7 in meets.
Three Hoosiers earned Big Ten honors for their performances last week. Sophomore Blake Pieroni was named Co-Swimmer of the Week for the third time this season for his NCAA B-cut time of 1:36.54 in the 200 freestyle while freshman Lilly King was named Co-Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season after sweeping both backstroke events. Junior Joshua Arndt was named Diver of the Week for the first time this season. He racked up a career-best score of 371.70 in the 1-meter dive and also finished second in the platform with a total score of 305.85 points.
Also against the Boilermakers, sophomore Gia Dalesandro swept both butterfly events and sophomore Kennedy Goss was victorious in both the 200 free and the 200 backstroke event. For the men, 11 different individuals were victories with junior Bob Glover being the lone Hoosier to win two events by sweeping both backstroke events.

The Cardinals continue preparation for the ACC Championships when they host the Louisville Invitational on Feb. 13-14 in Ralph Wright Natatorium.
