
Cards Send 22 to Finals on Day 3 of ACC Championships

Tommy Bried is the top qualifier in the 400 IM
GREENSBORO -- The No. 11/8 ranked University of Louisville swimming and diving team will send 22 swimmers to the finals on Day 3 of the 2025 ACC Championships in the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The Cardinal men put three in the A-final of the 400 Individual Medley led by top qualifier Tommy Bried, who put up the fastest time in the field with a 3:39.28 to break the school record by almost two full seconds. Freshman Gregg Enoch will be seeded second tonight after going 3:41.10 in prelims to set a freshman school record. Jackson Millard fought his way into the A-final as well with a 3:42.31, which was third in his team The Louisville women put Kim Herkle in the B-final tonight after she went 4:11.89 to finish third in her heat.

In the 100 butterfly, Ella Welch swam her way into the A-final with a 51.50 in prelims and will be seeded eighth going into tonight. Gabi Albiero went 51.57 to be the top qualifier in the B-final where she will be joined by fellow fifth year swimmer Tristen Ulett, who turned in a 52.13. Karoline Barrett will score tonight as well after making the C-final with a 52.53.

In the men's 100 fly, Dalton Lowe will swim in the B-final tonight after posting a 45.57. Aidan Paro will lead three Cards in the C-final after going 45.85. Thomas Powers-Hammond will join him after clocking in at 46.11 as will Rian Graham, who went 45.91. Freshman Filip Kosinski turned in a 47.43.

In the women's 200 freestyle, two Cardinals will swim the A-final, led by Daria Golovaty's 1:44.33. Joining her in the championship final will be Summer Cardwell, who carded a 1:44.48. Freshman Amelia Bodenstab made the B-final with a time of 1:45.21. Fernanda Celidonio will score in the C-final after going 1:45.33. Lucy Mehraban won her heat when she stopped the clock at 1:46.70 and is the first alternate. Julia Dennis was in the same prelim head and touched 7th with a time of 1:48.76.

Five Cardinals earned second swims in the 200 free led by Guy Brooks who made the A-final with a time of 1:32.71. The B-final will showcase Murilo Sartori (1:33.21) and Denis Loketev (1:33.57). Gustavo Saldo made the C-final with a 1:33.97 and he will be joined by Mateo Santiso, who carded a 1:34.19.
