Cardinals Send 18 Swimmers to Finals after Day 4 Prelims at ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Eighteen Cardinals earned second swims after the Day 4 preliminaries at the 2024 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships Friday morning at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Three Cardinals earned second swims in the 200 fly led by Tristen Ulett's 1:57.99 which puts her in the B-final. Madison Hall and Summer Cardwell went 2:00.44 and 2:00.24 respectively and will swim in the C-final this evening.

The men advanced five 200 flyers to the finals this evening with four in the B and one in the C-final. Denis Loktev had the fastest time for the Cards with a 1:44.51. Aidan Paro will join him in the B-final after going 1:44.87 as will Tommy Bried (1:44.95) and Mateo Miceli (1:45.01). Gustavo Saldo made the C-final with a 1:45.42.

In the 100 backstroke Paige Hetrick put up the fastest prelim time for the Cardinals, boarding a 52.57 to make the B-final. Ally Boynton turned in a 54.49 to round out the Cards' entries.

In the men's 100 back, Dalton Lowe went 45.82 and advanced to the A-final for the Cardinals. Teammate Charlie Crush turned in a 47.06 and made it back to the C-final.

In the 100 breaststroke, Ella Welch made the B-final tonight with a time of 1:00.41. Cecilia Viberg earned a second swim with a 1:01.40 to make the C-final.

Denis Petrashov led the Cardinal breaststrokers and will be seeded second going into tonight's A-final with a time of 51.67. Luke Shourds (53.10) and Grant Gooding (52.64) made the B-final and Aidan Paro will return in the C-final after posting a 53.49.

Diver Else Praasterink qualified second on the platform to advance to the finals with a score of 272.10. Lindsay Gizzi was 10th with a score of 230.95 and Grace Leonard was 24th with a total of 188.45.
