Cards Travel to IU on Friday, Host Cincinnati on Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The 15/8 University of Louisville men's and women's swimming team will travel up north to Bloomington, Indiana, to compete against the No. 6/9 Indiana University. The meet will take place on Friday, February 2, at noon in the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center. The Cardinals will then travel home to host the University of Cincinnati on Saturday, February 3, at noon inside Ralph Wright Natatorium.

The Cardinals last competed at home on Saturday, January 27, where they swept their in-state rival University of Kentucky. The No. 8-ranked Cardinals women's team won 210-90, and the No. 15-ranked men's team won 209.5-88.5. UofL was fueled by first-place finishers Ilia Sibirtsev (distance), Denis Petrashov (breaststroke), Lindsay Gizzi (diving), Christiana Regenauer (sprint), and Gabi Albiero (butterfly), as they all swept the competition. The Cards also found success winning all four of the relays.

IU was last in action Saturday, January 27, as the Hoosiers defeated Purdue at home on senior day. The No. 6-ranked men's team won 218-82, and the No.9-ranked women's team won 221-79. The Hoosiers had several first-place finishers throughout the day and had the top three finishers in 10 events. Out of their 14 honored seniors, eight were victorious in their events.

UC last competed on Friday, January 19, when they swept Xavier at home. The men's team won 199-63, and the women's team won 179-83. Sophomore Brogan Robinson was instrumental in the victory, leading the Bearcats with three individual event wins (200-yard individual medley, 100-yard breaststroke, and 200-yard breaststroke).

In their last head-to-head matchup, Louisville men's and women's teams fell to Indiana 193-107 and 155-145. The Cards last matchup against Cincinnati was victorious as they swept, with the men winning 203-94 and the women winning 198-92.
