Three days of racing comes to a close
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. --Â The No. 10 University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving team finished the 3-day Purdue Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.

The Cardinal women finished with a commanding score of 947 points followed by Northwestern (716.5), Purdue (3564.5), Florida International (447), Missouri State (275), Marshall (213.5), California Baptist (163.5), Illinois State (156) and Southern Illinois (155).

The men amassed 764.5 points to finish in second with Purdue (864.5) leading the men's team rankings. Northwestern finished third (513.5), California Baptist finished fourth (429), Navy finished fifth (315), Missouri State finished sixth (307.5) and Southern Illinois was seventh (189).

 In women's platform diving, Else Praasterink was second with a score of 289.55 and Lindsay Gizzi finished eleventh with a score of 214.85. Logan Smith was the top finisher for the Louisville men with a fourth-place score of 272.50, right above teammate Thomas Dowling who scored 258.90.

The women's 1650 freestyle was won by Louisville's Liberty Williams with a time of 16:10.48.

The Louisville men had three individuals in the 1650 freestyle, with Ilia Sibirtsev placing first overall (14:58.12), Eli Shoyat placing seventh (15:40.10) and John Bossler placing ninth (15:48.21).
The Louisville women took the top three spots in the 200 backstroke with Rye Ulett leading the way with a winning time of 1:53.98. Paige Hetrick was second in 1:54.04 and Jordan Durocher was third in 1:56.98.

Freshman Jackson Millard finished sixth in the 200 backstroke in 1:46.59 while teammate James Collin was 14th (1:48.53) for the UofL men.

Gabi Albiero led a 1-2-3-4 sweep for the Cardinals in the 100 freestyle. Albiero clocked in at 47.49 just ahead of Christiana Regenauer's 48.05. Ella Welch was third in 48.71 and Julia Dennis finished right behind her in 48.81. Karoline Barrett finished eighth (50.17). Abdelrahman El-Araby took the win for the men's 100 freestyle with a time of 42.85. Michael Eastman was third (43.07), Vlad Dubinin finished fourth (43.46) and Denis Loktev was fifth in 43.62.

Abby Hay led the women in the 200 breaststroke with a first place time of 2:09.77. Teammate Cecilia Viberg finished ninth in 2:14.86.

Tristen Ulett won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:55.78 and Paige Kuwata finished eighth in 2:03.70. Denis Loktev placed third in 1:45.16 as the top finisher for the men.

The Cardinals continued their relay streak with a win the women's 400 freestyle relay. Christiana Regenauer (47.97), Gabi Albiero (47.86), Julia Dennis (48.48), and Ella Welch (48.16) put up the winning time of 3:12.47. The B-relay of Karoline Barrett (49.93), Tristen Ulett (48.12), Maddie Luther (51.25), and Paige Hetrick (48.84) finished in second with a time of 3:18.14.

The men's 400 freestyle A-relay finished second with Michael Eastman (43.13), Vlad Dubinin (42.80), Denis Loktev (43.72), and Abdelrahman El-Araby (42.37) putting up a combined time of 2:52.02 in the final event of the night.
