Bio
2024-25: Eli operated as a distance specialist for the Cardinals. At the ACC Championships in Greensboro, he finished seventh in the 1650 freestyle (14:50.05) and 19th in the 500 free (4:16.59) and 45th in the 200 free (1:37.55). He won the 1000 free (9:02.17) and the 500 free (4:19.38) versus Tennessee as well as winning the 1000 free versus Purdue (9:04.21) with a econd in the 500 free (4:28.46). At the Ohio State Invitational, he was fifth in the 1650 and took second in the 1000 free (9:16.98) at Missouri. Against rival Kentucky, he was third in both the 1000 free (9:05.75) and the 500 free (4:23.65). At the Indiana meet, he was second in the 500 free (4:22.30) and fifth in the 1000 (9:13.12). On Senior Day versus Cincinnati, he won the 1650 (15:20.89) and the 500 free (4:26.10).
2023-24: Eli took off a year from the Cardinals to train for the Olympic Trials.
2022-23: Eli qualified for the ACC Championships in Greensboro. He won the C-final of the 500 freestyle with a 4:18.64. He was 14th in the 1650 free with a time of 15:16.17 and 33rd in the 200 butterfly (1:49.39). He started the dual meet season out with a second place in the 1000 freestyle against Xavier and Tennessee, where he was also second in the 500 free. He was third in the 1000 and 500 at Notre Dame. At the Purdue Invitational, he was sixth in the 500 free, 13th in the 400 IM, ninth in the 200 free and seventh in the 1650. At Missouri, he was third in the 1000 free and second in the 500 free. Against rival Kentucky, he was third in the 1000 free and second in the 500 free. Against Indiana, he was fourth in the 1000 and second in the 500 free for the Cardinals. He was second in the 1650 against Cincinnati.
2021-22: Shoyat finished his first season with the Cards with a strong ACC Championship performance with two personal bests. He placed 10th in the mile with a time of 15:14.81 and 18th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:20.05. With seven top-5 finishes, he had a tremendous dual season. Shoyat won gold in the 500 freestyle against Kentucky and silver in the 1000 freestyle against Cincinnati. Shoyat had two third place finishes this season, with one in the 500 freestyle against Indiana and the other in the mile at the Purdue Invitational. He also finished fourth in the mile against the Wildcats, fourth in the 500 freestyle at the Purdue Invitational, and fifth with a personal best in the 1000 freestyle against the Hoosiers.
Prep: A mid-distance and distance specialist out of Northern Kentucky Clippers Swimming, Shoyat competed at the 2021 FINA World Cup at the Europasportpark Pool in Berlin, Germany. Shoyat is a mid-distance and distance specialist out of Northern Kentucky Clippers Swimming who also competed for Powel Crosley Jr. YMCA. Racing in short course meters, Shoyat finished 13th in the 400M IM with a time of 4:28.22. Shoyat finished 46th in the 200M freestyle with a time of 1:52.49. As a junior, he competed in the 200 free and 500 free, finishing 5th and 3rd, respectively, at 2020 Kentucky High School Championships in February. His best 200 free (1:40.94) and 50 back (25.28) times came from high school season. In club swimming, Shoyat is a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 1650 free and 500 free and a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 200 free,He competed for Powel Crosley Jr YMCA at last summer’s YMCA Long Course National Championships, finishing 7th in the 1500 free (16:26.28), 8th in the 800 free (8:36.78), 11th, in the 400 IM (4:40.61), and 12th in the 400 free (4:07.21). He also competed in the 200 free and swam a leg (1:58.30) on PCY’s winning 800 free relay.
